No I meant quit iTunes, pop in a blank disc, drag some files to it, right click and hit Burn.

Yes I have done that. It burns but won't verify and kicks it out does it with a variety of media.

since it sounds as if it as compatability issue, any chance you have roxio toast?

Sounds like it may be an underlying issue in the OS that iTunes is more susceptible to.

Don't think Roxio offer trials anymore.

Here's an open source utility. Not sure how much of it ties into OSX, meaning it may be nothing more than a gui for the built in libraries, or maybe not.
