Mac question Itunz

So now every time I try to burn a CD from itunes the program crashes. Anybody else have this problem? I'm running osx 10.4.11 and itunes 9. It used to work just fine I know my external recorder works, it's just itunes that crashes.

Someone else was having the same problem recently.

Don't recall if they resolved it.

upgrade your itunes to 10.2.2

I had this problem once, but it was so long ago I can't remember the solution. I'm sorry.

would that mean going to the next OS?

pegasus9 08-02-2011 03:10 PM

no need to go to the next OS. just go up to your apple icon on the left and hit system preferences.
then go to software update. hit the check now button and it will list all the upgrades that are available. Uncheck all except the latest itunes version.

My itunes was fizzing out on me last month and sure enough an upgrade fixed it.

targa911S 08-02-2011 03:16 PM

did that just now and it told me no new updates. The requirements listed for 10.2.2 say I have to have OSX 10.5 which I don't have.

targa911S 08-02-2011 03:21 PM

there is a version 9.2.1 that I am downloading now. sez it's for 10.4.4. wish me luck.

targa911S 08-02-2011 03:30 PM

no go. I upgraded to 9.2.1 and as soon as I hit the 'Burn disc" button Itunes quits, and asks me if i want to report it to apple which of course i have done a bunch of times.

targa911S 08-02-2011 03:32 PM

i'll try 10.2.2 what have i got to lose.

targa911S 08-02-2011 03:39 PM

nope won't let me install it. sez I need 10.5. Crap!

pegasus9 08-02-2011 03:51 PM

Ok so you're limited to the upgrades because your OS is an older version.

try going to disk utility and highlight the HD disk and hit repair permissions.

This might repair any permissions problems.
Also it might help to do a safe boot. Restart the computer and hold the shift key down the entire time. You'll need a password though and if you don't remember that then don't do a safe boot.

targa911S 08-02-2011 04:00 PM

I remember my password so I'l give it a go. See you on the other side.

pegasus9 08-02-2011 04:10 PM

sounds good. good luck.

targa911S 08-02-2011 04:30 PM

I'm back. Safe boot check, verify, check all is well. Also ran check disc and all is well. Ran itunes, burn disc, it quit. I'm done for now. Thanks for your help though.

Can you burn a disc using the OS's buIlt in function?

nostatic 08-02-2011 04:42 PM

Do you have too many songs on the list? I seem to recall having burn issues and not getting error messages. Also have you tried a different brand of disc?

no both burners will crash it.

targa911S 08-02-2011 04:44 PM

I don't get that far. It will crash on one song as well as a playlist. Media seems to make no difference as it doesn't get to that phase, it quits as soon as you hit the burn button.
