92 Saab 9000s?
I have a friend who has a very, very nicely maintained 9000S he is wanting to sell for $4k. 109k, new tires and brakes, full records since new, he truely has pampered this thing. I have been thinking about retiring my 911 from daily duty, especially in the winter.
I just don't know much about SAAB's, never owned one. It seems like a great dd, good interior room, 5 speed, not too much in the way of stuff that goes wrong and again, he's a solid guy who has treated this thing since new with love and care. What say those who know something about these cars?

I had an 87 9000 Turbo -- great car, lots of room, comfortable, blah, blah, blah. But, by the time I owned it it needed a new waste gate, and it leaked a lot of oil. I wasn't as mechanically inclined then, so I didn't keep it. Now, I'd fix it myself.
Neat cars. Price seems high, though. |

Maintenance should be less since it's not a turbo.
They're actually pretty good cars. Good in snow. Handle well. There are probably some/one good SAAB independent garages in WA if you're not inclined. Do some price checking... that seems a little high, but if it's in fantastic shape, well... |

4k, in my opinion, is way out there no matter the condition. This is an 18 year old Saab.....
They were good cars but the reality is the book value is less than 1k. Add 1k for condition and 500 for new tires and you are still a long way from 4. Parts are expensive..put 2k into the Volvo wagon and drive it daily. Just an opinion

That's about $2k too high. $4k will buy you a nice 9000 Aero with 240 HP, manual gearbox, Recaro seats, and a much more attractive body. I had a '93 9000 Aero with 235k miles when I sold it, no internal engine or transmission work and the original turbo. It was a great car and a freaking rocket on the highway. They are awesome cars, just don't buy one with TCS (traction control).

Thanks for the advice. After getting a better description from David this thing is close to showroom but I don't know how important that is to me. I'm sure to a SAAB person the fact it's been stored inside, carpets and dash all covered from new so they look new now, 120k maintenance done at 110k, new Potenzas, etc. all add to the price. I've seen a few advertised between $1,000 and $2,000. I'm not sure it will even fit in my garage. They are bigger than I thought. Blue book here is about $1,800.

You can call them and they will tell you. On the website for a 1998 Saab 9000 the biggest rim they will recommend is 18 inches. I have been told they are pretty good about this stuff. spam link removed - ns
