Awesome alley find- Paradigm monitors!

I recently was walking out to my car in the back garage when I spotted a set of speakers by the dumpster... I quickly threw them in my apartment to try out later and didn't even pay attention to what they were..

I'm an old speaker junkie.

Well, I was away all weekend but I just got back and saw the speakers inside the door. I looked a bit closer and noticed... they're a set of Paradigm monitors - 3SE's I think. I will post some pics later. I don't know what they run for now, but back in the day these were $400 speakers.

Just got them wired up and... not only do they work but they sound the business.

I love free speakers, especially when they sound this goood.

The veneer is scratched and chipped up on the tops of each- its not all that bad though. A black marker on some of the small chips with some polish will make it unnoticeable.

I stupidly didn't grab the mesh grilles because they looked a bit rough.

Years ago I picked up a pair of Polk Audio speakers for nothing. Still have them. Some hippie fools brother had bought them at an Army PX, given them to him, and now he was selling them to 'pay bills'. Dumb ass. Set them up in a nice room with some Miles Davis.....lush. Life.

maybe they weren't in the alley to be thrown out. I bet he was moving, and went out the the front to get his truck from the street to drive around to the alley & when he got there, his speakers were gone. He's probably posting on some audio forum on how some asshat stole his speakers

BTW nice find

typically, someone's mother does that when the son has valuable items stored in "their" former room or in the attic, etc.

LOL. That's what I was thinking. Just how close to the dumpster were these?

J/K, nice score.

its amazing what some folks throw out.
I was driving down the street and someone was tossing out an old TEAC reel to reel.
I took it home, give it some TLC and BINGO... works perfectly. Now its like a conversation piece when someone comes to the house..."hey does that thing really work? let me hear it."

LOL the things that trigger memmories:

Memorable quotes for
Men at Work (1990)

Louis: Aww, lookie here. Looks like somebody threw away a perfectly good white boy!
(looks up to a poster of Jack Berger on a street sign)
Louis: And he sure looks a helluva lot like that dude!
