No names but I can probably guess where you love whether a neighborhood or apartment complex ;)

Art, that's a pretty mild example as far as A-hole parking goes. :)

Twice in the last week, I've thought about this thread. I have to get quicker with the camera phone, I could have made videos of both confrontations. The first one was @ Trader Joe's on 3rd and LaBrea, (for L.A. locals), a crowded parking lot with notoriously small stalls. I noticed two open spots ahead, only problem was that they were separated by a Lincoln Town Car who somehow managed to park in 3 compact spaces!

Imagine tiny angle parking spaces and you can get a picture. I could not get my small MB SL into the spot proceeding him, (his tail was too far in it), so I squeezed into the spot after him, (on his passenger side). That's when I noticed that he was sleeping in his car. I opened my door into the side of his car with an audible clunk, still could not get out. That woke him and he honked his horn, even though I was 5 feet away with open windows.

I did not even address the fact of my door hitting his car and laid into him. I told him that he'd made it impossible for anyone to park in the adjacent spaces and that furthermore, it was a compact space and he was not a compact. I told him that he was in 3 spaces. I asked him if he wanted to straighten out his car, that I'd wait to open my door again.

The guy started his car and backed up, I thought he was going to try to improve his parking job but he just backed out and left. When I got out, some black guy sitting in his car a couple spaces over started clapping. He was giving me kudos, saying, "well played, sir!" and the like. I said that I felt a little bad about red-assing this guy with an audience but he said not to worry, the guy knew exactly what he did.

I have to start filming this stuff, it would have made a good post here. There was one other time the other day when some guy just parked so horribly next to me that it warranted a photo as well.

I just had an interesting insight on this. I have started going to a medical office regularly. Won't say more because I don't want it to make its way back to the perpetrator. I see a car parked in two spaces every single time I go. There are two folks in the office in the early am. My professional and the receptionist. I didn't know which was the problem parker until there was a different receptionist the other day.

It is the receptionist.

Why does she do this every day?

Because she is grossly overweight. I don't think she can possibly fit if she didn't park in two spots.

Yikes!

It never occurred to me that someone would have to take two spots out of necessity. Cut back on the gravy!

Just remember that obesity is now considered a disease. It won't surprise me when someone suggests that handicap tags be issued to those with this horrible affliction.

Maybe the next time you are in the office you can suggest to her that she apply for a handicap permit?

These photos allow us to objectively observe some aspects of negative human behavior. IMHO, offending owners remain clueless and often repeat that behavior. Thus, they should receive feedback of this self-centered habit. At a minimum, they need a reminder - a note is appropriate, e.g. variations of the ones posted so far.

For more severe cases (YMMV), perhaps a 16 penny nail or an equivalent air-extraction strategy is called for. OTOH, a flat tire may be too subtle for these dullards to connect the dots. Include a note too.

More reasonable parking may not be realized, but repeated air loss could instead increase their level of paranoia. Call it even.

Sherwood,

Better yet, a very small pebble in the air stem cap. It will do the trick without and permanent damage.

It is a real ***** when you have two flats or a set of dually flats.

RWebb 09-01-2013 10:33 AM

Is a flat a proportional penalty for this type of offense?

I suggest a "kindler, gentler" penalty (no, not an invasion by the 1st ID). Just slip a note under their wiper blade.

(if the wiper blade accidently gets bent out of shape... well, that was an accident and only costs a few bucks to remedy - less than a parking ticket).
