Helicopoter crash in Afghanistan kills 20 members of SEAL Team 6

There are days when I read things like this and wonder why we don't either nuc some of these places back to the stone age or just pack up and leave them to fend for themselves. RIP guys.

Helicopter Crash in Afghanistan Reportedly Kills Members of SEAL Team 6 - FoxNews.com

WASHINGTON -- The Associated Press has learned that more than 20 Navy SEALs from the unit that killed Osama bin Laden were among those lost in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

The operators from SEAL Team Six were flown by a crew of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. That's according to one current and one former U.S. official. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because families are still being notified of the loss of their loved ones.

One source says the team was thought to include 22 SEALs, three Air Force air controllers, seven Afghan Army troops, a dog and his handler, and a civilian interpreter, plus the helicopter crew.

The sources thought this was the largest single loss of life ever for SEAL Team Six, known as the Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

You can't nuke em into the stone ages when they still are in fact, in the stone ages.
There simply isn't anything to target with nukes, it's just one big giant sh i thole.

I don't understand why anybody in his right mind thinks that country will ever be pacified,
they have been fighting for thousands of years and if they don't have an invader to fight with,
they will enthousastically turn on their own kind, just so they wouldn't be bored just sitting in the sh i thole they are sitting in..

For these warlords , it's either fighting or messing around with little boys.
They sit in caves where they have 8 year olds making bullets and repearing guns with nothing but the most basic tools.

Keeping that in mind, just frigging isolate the place, keep em from exporting dope, keep em from importing anything else.
Occasionally send in a couple of Tomahawks if you see one of the towelheads look at you in a funny way..
It will be much cheaper and probably just as cost effective as it has been till now.

There is NO added value having ANY troops on the ground there. None, zero, bupkiss.
The only foreigners that are making any profit there, are the contracters that build, supply and maintain the bases.

That's just unbelievably tragic. What a loss. And for what, I'm starting to wonder...

+1 with those who are starting to wonder & those saying we need to get out to let them stew in their own schit. We need to end going in to countries without any clear agenda related to our national security.

In wars like this, where our very survival is not in immediate danger, things can change and it's not always the wrong thing to leave. You can go in for all the right reasons but 10 years later decide that it's just not a winning cause. IMO, of course.

This crash is horrible on so many different levels beyond the obvious tragedy of losing so many Navy SEALs, namely that the enemy can feel like it more than paid us back for killing OBL. It might have been the actual guys from the raid that were killed. Sickening...

A tragic loss, but it isn't that different from the 4,863 that went before them in Afghanistan and Iraq. They are all tragic losses.

Am playing a show at the VA Hospital today. Vietnam Veterans Association is doing a "Tribute to WW2 Vets" event. I'm sure this will be mentioned. God speed to all those who have fallen.

The irony of this happening the day after the S&P downgrade. Being that war is one of the big causes for our debt...

Completely agree and the quarantine idea ought to be done with any country in that category.....

Not politically correct, but I do not believe any Afghan/Iraqi/Iranian is worth a single American life... just sayin'...

+1.

I was as well, but like watching the news about Vietnam and the body count every night, it gets old. I begining to think we need to cut our losses and move on. Isolating them as suggest with no way in or out sounds good, but as we know the borders are like sieves. You can't cover every nook, crany or mile. Heck, we can't even secure our own border to the south.

Add in the fact the fact that the governments there are so corrupt, just makes it more aggrevating.

Still, I support our troops and the job they do. They have a tough job with not enough thanks.

A lot of people have become very wealthy by way of our military policies; don't expect it to change any time soon.

There is no end game for us in this part of the world. Either we turn it into a parking lot, or we get milked dry playing whack-a-mole. I've read a couple of pieces that thoerized that the Chinese are playing the Afghanis/Pakis against us much like we played them against the Russians.

Really sorry to read this.

There is zero point to this war. Never has been. Never will be.

A complete waste of fine young men.
