All I would say is that buying one new is borderline foolish IMO, you can get a very low miles pristine example for a fraction of what it would cost new.

sc_rufctr 08-17-2011 05:58 AM

Sammy

That's true in the US but down here there are none for sale right now. There are two that I know of in my city.

Importing a second hand one is not a viable option.

So be patient it’s not like you HAVE to have it. There is just too big of deprecation on a new one. Wait for a USED one.

Gretch 08-17-2011 06:58 AM

Do it! It will be WAY cheaper than any broad and it won't piss and moan when you leave it in the garage for one of the other girls in your stable.....

WAY cheaper than ANY broad!

Are you certain your retirerment is golden?

I imagine that is a big chunk a change you are talking about spending (six digits?) you could probably buy a nice condo for that amount of money.

But as others have said... it is your money... and your life.

romad 08-17-2011 10:37 AM

You can not afford it if depreciation, price, and maintenance cost are serious issues in your decisions. Personally, I can think of many things to purchase at that price before a car would even make the list.

DARISC 08-17-2011 12:18 PM

For what reasons are you on the fence?

Judging from your request that someone talk you out of it makes me think that you are looking for encouragement to climb down on the, I'm not gonna do it, side of that fence.

You wana bet? A Gold digging Tramp is way cheaper...and more fun too...Just wait till you get the maintence Bill you will feel like you really got fked...and you don't get the reach around either!!!!

I learned the hard way about rolling stock....I had a RR..a 76 LWB Shadow. felt like you were in your Living Room crusing down the highway on the back of a tow truck. LOL VROOOM VROOOM:D

The new RR/B have BMW 12's in em..probably reworked to meet the std. MY RR had a GM transmission and AC in it. RR/B hit the wall in 90 and many of their parts supliers went outa bizness. Thats when VW and BMW picked em up.

Also in that car you begin to look over yer shoulder...that car says MONEY...and you begin to be carefull about which part O town you are in...

Maybe ya should go and RENT ONE for the weekend...

Actually I like my Ford F150 just as much as the RR.... it is comfortable and great on a road trip, has plenty of luggage space and it don't cost me hardly nothin in maintence, or insurance. Nobody pays you no mind...

Weeellll have you considered a Bullit Stang?

DARISC 08-17-2011 04:32 PM

A friend of mine's lawyer bought an old Rolls. He said "I bought it inflate my image, hahaha!". I think the stock trans in his came from GM.

I first saw it at my friends business and he asked me if I wanted a ride, a short run to COSTCO and back. Sure, I said. Hop in! Ya wanna ride in the back? He reached into the back seat, grabbed an old chauffeur's cap, put it on and said, grinning, "People will think you have a chauffeur."

He's a fullback sized black guy. Funny dude. :D

On the way, I asked him how he liked it. He said "it's a quiet, nice riding, POS pain in the ass. It's always in the shop. But hey, it's shiny, black and pretty, just like me and I have a lot of fun puttin' people on for schytes and grins." :D

What on Earth does that have to do with anything? He wants it, he can afford it. SmileWavy

I like the Bentley Continental it has gorgeous lines and you arrive in style,
as well as cruise with aplomb,
I am with some of the others about buying a used version.

The Ferrari dealer here in town also sells Bentley motorcars,
and there sure are more than a few available,
with more than modest discounted purchasing prices,

Most of these used cars have less than 20K miles and still look like new.
If you like it then get it,
if you go new,
then dont forget you can order just about any color you like,

It pays to shop some to see the different color choices as some of the color options combos dont seem as nice as others do.
Its better to see the car in person to get a feel of the smells of the rich leather interiors and the view from the driver seat

Do it.
Do it.

Peter, I'm still wondering why you ask someone to talk you out of this rather than to talk you into this?

Actually the decision to buy this car was made a long time ago.

As it went from a dream to reality I decided to enquire about the price. It's EXPENSIVE so that has given me pause.
As I said earlier I can afford it... But at the end of the day it's a car.

Fuel usage... Large SUV (12 mpg)
Insurance... Ridiculous :(

It's become important to me. I don't want to depart this planet not having done all of the things I want to do.
I donate to charities and my affairs are in order.

DARISC 08-17-2011 06:21 PM

Hey! Buy it!
