Who are these people?
One of the tribal casinos in my county rents camping space in a pasture to several groups every year for their jamborees or whatever, the Hell's Angels being one of those groups in the past. The sherrifs have no jurisdiction on reservations and some, if not all of these groups, are heavy into drugs.
A friend of a friend is an out of work IT guy in his late fifties who's been working the night shift as a parking lot security guard. He tells my friend that yesterday some supposed 'veterans' group arrived in various vehicles ranging from beat up pickup trucks to several high zoot luxo busses and maybe thirty Harleys. His boss had him spend his shift last night sticking around the entrance to the large fenced off area where the group had pitched tents and parked their campers. The group has their own security, well armed twenty something year old guys, some with prison tats. The group is comprised of both men and women, ranging in age from the twenties to Nam vets. He said they all look like hard core bikers and the men are all armed, many also carrying big knives. This guy wasn't supposed to get involved with the group in any way, just hang around outside the gate to their enclosure. Well, this guy's a short little fat guy and a shmoozer. Also, unarmed because this particular tribe forbids anyone from bringing guns onto their casino property, which is interesting because this whole group is heavily armed and when the casino does call the law to arrest a perp, even the sheriffs have to leave their guns locked in their cars before they're allowed to enter the casino. So this guy chats up two of their security guards and one of the guys invites him in and takes him around introducing him to a number of people. None of them used their real names. They only went by their monikers. The security guy he was with was Download. This is a badass bunch of people. This guy was sent over to their campsite, which is about a quarter mile from the casino, at 11 PM when he started his shift. A rock band had set up earlier and people were dancing, milling around socializing, drinking Rock Star and booze, beer, smoking dope and openly shooting up drugs. He said he overheard a lot of macho boasting, several of the older guys going on about how they were trained killers in Nam. He spent about an hour inside talking to a number of these people, two of whom were in their forties, the guys girlfriend saying she was married and her husband was in prison. She said that before he went to prison for an unrelated crime, he'd tried to beat her up so she shot him and when he got out, if he tried to mess with her she'd shoot the mother fkr again. Whoa!! The older guys in the group are called the Grandfathers and there were a number of guys who'd not been accepted into the group who they call prospects. The guy saw one of the members introduce a prospect to a small group of people, introducing him as Bent Ear, from F Troop. He also overheard enough to learn that this group hates Jews and blacks. Non are skinheads, mostly long hair and pony tails. At one point my friend's friend asked a guy he was talking to what the name of their group is and the guy just gave him a cold hard look. The security guy he was with looked down at him and said, You're asking too many questions. Again, whoa! After he left to hang around outside the entrance, Download invited him to come to the big BBQ they're throwing Sunday afternoon. He later took his break and told his supervisor that they were all armed and asked what the name of the group is. His supervisor frowned at him and just said, They've been coming here every year for the last fifteen years. Go take your break. The guy hopes to learn more tonight, but this guy has a rep there for being somewhat of a dweeb and, somehow, I think they probably sent another guard tonight. Who are these people? Anybody know?

Ha! You know I like to joke around a lot Mark, but I'm not making this stuff up! I talked to my friend at about 9:30 tonight (come to think of it, the guy's shift starts at 10' not 11) and this guy had stopped at his place and told him what I related on his way out to the casino.

Definitely sounds like an event/gathering for a well-funded M/C. Probably not the "81" but something similar. Maybe the VNV M/C guys.

Yeah. I don't know what's the haps with biker clubs today, but know that the Hell's Angels haven't worn their colors in San Diego County for many years. Back when they, and several other clubs still did, a friend of mine owned several apartment buildings in Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach.
He had a Hell's Angel named Schultsie who lived with his girlfriend, rent free, in one of his apartments in OB. The guy was his 'enforcer' who collected the rent from any tenant who posed a problem...once. Schultsie was a big, gnarly dude who would fit right in with this 'veterans' group.

Well since you are being serious...my guess would be a drug syndicate—or part of it, celebrating a successful year-end.
In Canada, the hard boys with bikes and guns are almost all in the drug trade. And they have conventions just like accountants etc.

Your friend better watch is butt. It's not worth much with those guys, and he is asking too many questions. It is easy to find trouble if you keep looking.

I do know the guy though and he's an 'overly friendly' gnomish type who chats up anyone who'll listen. He's gone and stepped in it on numerous occasions that I'm aware of. I told my friend that if his supervisor sends him back out there, he better tread lightly and watch where he steps, because if he doesn't, he'll be stepping into some real bad shlt. ![]() I'll probably hear back from my friend in a day or two and find out what happened last night. The guy doesn't work on Sundays and I'm really curious if he'll go to their BBQ this afternoon. It's a funny image: in that crowd the guy'll stand out like a petunia in a cactus patch. Can't help but wonder if some of those 'vets' are hoping he'll come so they can have a little, uh, fun with him. ![]()

Last time I went to Big Al's (a few weeks ago), when we walked in, I noticed two guys wearing "Outlaws" shirts. Apparently no one else in my group understood what that meant. When I discretely tried to point them out (more as a "pay attention and don't mess with these guys"), one guy said: "They probably just bought the t-shirts." He had no idea.
I kept my eye on them, more because I wanted to be prepared to bolt if things went bad. I noticed a few Peoria cops walk in to grab some free coffee. I noticed the Outlaws notice the cops, and over the next five minutes, finish their drinks and quietly walk out.
