I'm still trying to get used to the 40's. I have the dubious advantage of being more fit now than when I was younger, so it's all wonderful, knock on wood. Although my hip joints hurt for a few seconds if I sit cross-legged on the floor too long, that's new. My dad's doing fine in his 80's other than a bum hip so hopefully the genes will work out.

This is a neighbor of mine who up until recently owned the gym where I work out. He's about 66 yo in this picture.

Well I think you're all doing great!

OLD??? FFS!!! What the hell is OLD? OK so maybe some body parts are starting to show signs of wear and tear - everything has a 'use by' including body bits I guess .

Two words come to mind as a 40s female who never gets enough time for herself; "Gravity" and "Rounding". Not happy about a little gravity and don't like the curves getting a little rounder . Oh...and maybe the word "Grey". Pesky little suckers of "grey" making their way into my long dark locks...wish they would just p!ss off .

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

Impressive. But not done without pharmaceutical/hormonal help. Not judging or hating...just saying.

You can ABSOLUTELY eliminate that complaint and can become more flexible than you may have ever been.

All it takes is a serious, 12, 18 month commitment to Hatha yoga.

Along with increased flexibility will come improvements in every single aspect of your life. Guaranteed.

BTW, contrary to many people's misconceptions, no spiritual beliefs required; works equally well with believers, non-believers and agnostics.

I think meditation really helps with stress which then manifests itself in physical and psycholocial ways. Ask me how I know.

Should I ask....?

You have a lot of problems for 50. Diet would do wonders.

I think. No way of knowing for sure.

I'm just complaining, I'm actually quite healthy and have good dietary habits.

Kidney stones and gout was due to a benign tumor on my para-thyroid that was taken care of 5+ years ago, but I have a couple dozen stones from before that time. If it wasn't for modern medicine I'd be on dialysis by now, the para-thyroid condition is a fairly new discovered cause/treatment of KS.

Grey hair is hereditary, my mom went gray as a young adult as did many on her side of the family. The plus side is I still have all my hair.
Same with glasses, all my family had 20/20 till they were 45.

Middle age = The first time you couldn't do it the second time.
Old age = The second time you couldn't do it the first time.

It looks like the # 1 grumble is glasses. I agree, especially when working on the car.
As for working on the car, I have to move slower & if anything needs a lot of pushing or pulling I have to make sure my body is at the right angle or I will regret it the next day.
Unless I missed it, no one has mentioned hangovers that seem to last WAY longer.

I'm not as good as a I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.

62 here

I know too many friends and very good friends for at least 30 years

For past few years I lose at least one every 6 months. If I'm only familiar with the family I come up with an entertaining story we shared before the children were born. If I know the family just a look says it all. Kids like to hear that we wouldn't cry when the nuns were beating us and would laugh together after the event or that we were some of the only guys to surf hurricane swells while other surfers sat on the beach and watched etc etc. Every friend has a unique story never told.

that's an "irks" I can't scratch to get better

Enjoy life Guys (and honarary Guy Lisa ) as you don't get any younger. You'll look at photos of yourself in five years time and think "Wow, I was young back then I wish I'd treked/surfed/vacationed/moved to Spain..."

Also the other option is much worse. Some of our school buddies didn't make it this far.

I'm 52 but whenever I'm in a dream I'm a 28 year old. I guess it was my best time.
