12 hours without a smoke.
Leave me alone, I am grumpy.
Don't know if I can do it, I like to smoke, but I am going to give it hell. Longest I ever made if before was 14 months, worst 14 months of my life. |
I know you don't give a dam right now, but I am pulling for you.
I quit using Chantix, but I'm a wimp. |
Congrats! Keep it up!!
|
I wish you luck. I've been trying to reduce my Beer intake. So I'm at the damn store and the 18 paks are about .02 cents more than the 12 paks.............the 30 paks arn't much more either. Or, I'll stop to but one big beer, now, they're 2 for $3.00.
Remember when, you'd go tho the store and buy a 6pak or 2 -6paks, or maybe a "case", ( thats 4 6paks for all the younger guys ). Steve 73 911 T MFI Coupe, Aubergine |
We were discussing this at bfast.... On Oklahoma prices, if you smoke a pack a day, you are spending $150 a month.... Two packs? $300....

Wish I were still living there, would have helped me kick. Hang in there Fred. I'm pullin for you. |
Hang in there Fred. I quit Copenhagen about 10 years ago cold turkey. The first 30 days for me was the PITS! Pumpkin seeds helped quench the habit for me.
The wife claims I was an a**hole for 2-3 months, didn't seem like it to me.....:>) I still slip (have a dip) to this day but I don't want to re-live that first 30 days again. Nicotine is one of the worst (toughest) habits to break free of. YOU CAN DO IT Karl 88 Targa |
Keep it up Fred, I heard that Nic is in your system for 72 hours and then its all a mental addiction after that. Thats the tough part, the mental thing, you may need a subsitute for the butts, for most people its food, I put on 40 lbs when I quit in Jan. this year and I was already heavy but I'm still butt free, lots of guys here have quit and if we can do it so can you.
God hates a quitter but he looks the other way when it comes to butts, booze and drugs. Hang in there - we're rootin for ya. Finn |
Stay strong for your youngin!
|
longer you go easier it gets. Keep occupied and reward yourself. Good luck!
|
I was a smokeless tobacco user like Karl for twenty plus years. I too quit cold turkey in 2000. I still miss the dip to this day but I won't go back. Like others have said. Its more the mental addiction then the physical addiction.
Congrats on your first 12 hours. |
We're rooting for you, Fred. Just remember you are trying to free yourself from the slavery of nicotine, and what's just as bad, the habit of doing the cigarette thing with your lips, hands, fingers, etc. Also remember it's a completely unnatural thing to do and a dirty habit. Go for it.
|
Stay strong. I've never smoked, but I've witnessed what you are doing...stay strong....I'll pray for you

Made it through day one, just got back from the store, and I still have 7 dollars in my wallet. Screw you guys, I'm going to bed.
No seriously , thanks for the support. The real test will come when I go back to work on Tuesday, that is where the grunt of my smoking triggers are. I was busy all day , and it was not too bad, but then this evening when I slowed down a little bit, I was really jonesing for one. |
First 72 hrs is the worst. Just keep telling yourself your not giving in. You can do it.
