You guys still hating top gear US are missing out
This week's episode was really good... LFA on track vs Forza4, indoor world speed record with a rallycross car, bus drifting, seriously good car stuff and the hosts are starting to really hit their stride. I think that was just as good a a TGUK episode!

I am English (don't hold that agin me)...but all this stuff ^^^^^^^ is a direct copy from the UK series.....other than they got the F1 indoor speed record.
Where is the originality? the timing between the hosts is not right and the irony is forced. It's not even close. ALthough I have to say I was brought up on TGUK when I was young, it was a ***** BBC2 tv programme and we only had 3 channels to watch....and then came the messiah Clarkson JMTCW Neil

They're on the right track. They will never be the original, obviously but between this and "The Car Show", I think enthusiasts like us are finally getting automotive entertainment based in the US that is worth watching.
I caught some moments of TOP GEAR (UK) whilst on vacation and there's no doubt that those 3 clowns meld their personalities perfectly to create a great show.

Neil is spot on.
I'd love to know the budget of some of the shows ! Still watch from time to time US TG but find it lacking. Must say I also enjoy James May's other shows. Captain Slow and Davie Jones are the stars of the series,so I think. SxS

I know :-) I've watched every season of TG UK, some on TV some downloaded. No doubt its the better show. No doubt the US version is copying some crazy stunts. But this week's episode WAS good, period. Funny even. Doesn't have to be exactly like the chemistry between May, Clarkson and the Hamster either. Yes, the US hosts chemistry was crap initially. Watching this episode, it was pretty good actually - and as you said TGUK was horrible initially. Just saying this was a good episode in it's own right, if you have given up on them, TiVo that one and re-assess. I'd you still hate it, so be it !

BTW, the same people are producing both shows which is why you see many of the same antics. Its not a "copycat" thing

I watched parts of it last night and was not impressed. They bring in some bimbo that drives around some course. Its silly and geared to a 16yr old crowd.

Meh. I watch it when my more preferred shows are not on and I do not feel like putting on a nice DVD.
I would certainly not say I am missing out. The Car Show is not better than TG US. It is just as bad. I actually find it more boring and harder to get through the stupid humor by Carolla and all the talk. I liked the Fiesta Rallycross lap. Pretty sure Tanner is the Stig. I wish they would stop ragging on Tanner. He is the only one I have any respect for. The Hammond sub would be good if he wasn't forced to try to be funny. They should get rid of the fat guy.

I just watched it and the only reason this one was better is that it actually featured a few new, nice cars that were reviewed in a roundabout way. Was it really necessary to have the video schtick when the tested the lfa? If the focused more on interesting cars it's bound to improve. Just need less filler in-between .

I like the US version of Top Gear. Its funny. They make fun of the fat guy, short guy and so on. Maybe the PC police will end that soon.

My cable company FINALLY is sending BBC America to my TV! Which means after many years, I can finally watch Top Gear UK!
I've seen a few episodes of Top Gear US, and frankly, I am disappointed. As stated above, the irony is forced, and there is no chemistry between the three hosts. Whereas on Top Gear UK, there is fantastic chemistry -- something which happens over TIME, and can't be made up like on the US version. My $0.42, -Z-man.

Just watched the show, wow that was lame. Tanner is the only one that made the show even worth watching. The fat guy with the beard was OK/an idiot, the short dumpy guy Adam? makes the show completely unwatchable. Keep Tanner, dump the other two, they aren't even car guys.
I'd watch the UK show for the 4th time before watching this again.
