Nice! At first glance I thought you were siphoning from the pool, through the chiller, but I get it now. Brilliant way to put your waste water to work; enjoy a warm dip after brewday?
I've been brewing since 1993, full grain since 2000 Kegerator is empty, but soon to brew Imperial IPA and a Honey Amber. |

Dan,
That's my "hillbilly pool heater"! |
Most of my batches have been all grain, but I'm just getting back into the hobby after taking several years off, so I thought I'd start with extract brewing. The gas line and the King Cooker allow me to brew outside and it is easier to clean up and I don't worry about boil overs or messes.

I just checked and the yeast is going like crazy and the garage smells great!!!

Makes me wish I was not living in an apartment. Looks good but for now, I will have to get mine from the store.
|
Is this something you can teach or learn to do or do you need to be really thirsty to figure it out?

There is plenty of info available on the web that takes you step by step through the process.. Quote:
It can be done in an apartment, but its not the most ideal location |
Brewing is easier than reloading ammo and that's pretty easy! There is a ton of good brewing info on the web, no need to buy books and magazines to get started.

Looks like it will be yummy!

It sure smells fantastic!

My Pelican buddy really helped me out... John70t gave me a mess of hops to use for brewing. Here they are drying out. I'll use them in a few weeks...

GR is a huge beer town. There are probably a handful of clubs around that would welcome you to help out - once you see it done the instructions are so much more clear. Remember that 5 gallons is only 40 pints. That's only one party or less than a month with two beer drinkers in the house. And no, like reloading, you don't brew your own beer to save money. You just get to drink/shoot more! |
Yep, brewing is the easy part. Planning, getting everything ready and coordinating the activities are much more difficult, but not too bad.
|
Awesome!
Brewing is easy. Controlling fermentation is not :) https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-e...2/IMG_1639.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-o...2/IMG_1620.jpg |
Yep, that's why I brew in the garage (fall) and basement (winter)...

Cleaning kegs...
I have 24 of these 5gal pop canisters that make great beer "kegs"! I'm polishing and cleaning them up, replacing old seals, etc...
