All that Adobe security stuff... help.

I keep hearing all kinds of stuff re: Adobe products causing vulnerabilities on one's system

OS is WINxp... do I want to execute/launch this update?

"install_flashplayer10_mssd_aih.exe" is an executable file. Executable files may contain viruses or other malicious code that could harm your computer. Use caution when opening this file. Are you sure you want to launch "install_flashplayer10_mssd_aih.exe"?

If in doubt, go directly to Adobe and get the products from them.

Where did this file come from?

When opening Firefox tonight, they/it opened this way, with the link to the free update:

Clicking, it took me to Adobe for the DL.

FF will do that and thanks for the reminder... If you got the file from Adobe, don't worry as much.

Just did a FireFox update, right?
I've seen that a couple of times, no biggie, just need to update the Adobe flashplayer.

I have read about the vulnerabilities when you let the updates lag, more-so on the older adobe stuff then newest flash products. About the same amount as excel files come to think of it...

DL, update and move on and (like me) be thankful Mozilla catches these little things and gives you a reminder, right?

edit: Dave beat me to it

Well, as weird and inventive as the bad guys are these days, I wondered.

I guess when I really looked at that Firefox URL, it pretty much had to be legit.

But then when I click over to Adobe for the DL, the URL is Adobe - Install a different version of Adobe Flash Player

I would rather see an https there, but what do I know?

Nothing.
