It's easy to keep hovercraft out.

If I were you I'd finish the courtyard effect with a wall protecting the pool. You don't need to find gators sneaking in there, I hear they like water.

Did someone say CHU (containerized housing units)??? Here's mine for the past 7 months.

Thanks for your input George. There will be a full wall/fence enclosing the patio for pool access control. I have kids + we have some of those sneaky gators...

Now, if I could get the HOA to finally approve it...... 10 weeks and counting...

Jim,

I don't have any pictures to add (sorry) that express my idea, so hope I can draw a written picture for you.

When my father got sick, we planned for his access into and out of the house. Plus his needs within the house and others here have offered great suggestions regarding that. What we missed was access to the outdoors for him. He wanted to do a little light gardening.

If I could have done this, I would have extended the porch areas significantly and put in small raised garden beds at wheel chair height. He could have his tomatoes, his zucchini, flowers etc.

What we did was take care of his medical needs - house/bedroom/bathroom. We needed to take care of his ability to access some type of hobby, something he liked to do. If your wife has a hobby, try to build in a way for her do do her lobby for as long as she is able.

You are close, Mark. It is called Fallingwater & it was a Wright designed house, built for the Kaufman family of Pittsburgh. However, it is rural & about 65 miles sw of Pittsburgh. A stunning house, in a stunning location.

Here's a pretty damn nice house in Downey Ca that Joanna and I looked at. It's 2,700 sq ft on a 19k lot.

Built in 1933 but updated in the '90's

The bathrooms are period pieces and I would have updated them.
