Well, I finally took the water cooled plunge... '05 997S

After looking for several months I finally came across a 997S that was "close enough." I wanted an '06 so the IMS issue had been factory resolved but since I had budget to maintain I went with a low mile '05 with a Porsche CPO warranty.

It has 21.5K miles, one owner, excellent DME report, all original paint and of course the warranty. The only bad things were standard radio, manual seats, and no seat heaters. I would have liked a black interior but I can live with grey. The only options are leather seat F/R and steering wheel, sport chrono, and self dimming mirrors.

I just picked it up a couple hours ago so all I have is this pic from the parking lot at work:

OK, I guess I can't upload a picture so picture a Seal Grey Metallic 997S with Stone Grey interior.

Sounds very interesting. 997's are very handsome cars.

Oh yeah, I forgot the best part about buying from a Porsche dealer: When you joke with the salesman that you'd like to drive the GT3RS while you're waiting for your car, they take you serious. Needless to say, driving a GT3RS is pretty badass!!!

Congrats! I just helped a client in Dallas pick up a 2006 997S Cab with similar miles. It's amazing what a good deal these cars are, considering that a new 2011 isn't much different. Enjoy it!! The gray interior will be MUCH better in Houston.

Congrats. I've got an 05 S model as well, just got it recently. Very happy with it. Easy to live with day to day. Press the 'Sport' button, and prepare to break the law without trying.

All right David, congrats on the new baby. Which dealer did you go through? No heated seats, could have been a deal breaker. I bet you will be ok here in Houston without, but if you need I will come over and take it around the block a few times on cold mornings to heat your seat.
When you post a pic, can you give a side by side with the 911.

Congrats. Just don't tell us brainwashed aircooled masses how much better it is. Then we'll all want one, too.

Actually, I bet my 930 could take the '11 GT3RS up to about 100 or so. Of course turns and stopping don't count!

Yeah, for THAT you need a well setup 944 - LOL!

All teasing aside, the 997 is awesome. Congrats!

Let's try this again, a pic next to the trucks in the parking lot at work:

To answer some questions from above:

I bought it from Momentum Porsche.

I don't plan to do many mods but I'll probably order a short shifter today.

Yes! Unlike the 930 which stays parked way too much, I won't have to worry about rain and extreme heat or cold.
