Flash uses a ridiculous amount of CPU

Watching some VoDs for some training and they are Adobe Flash based and they are hitting my CPU on my MBP comparatively hard. CPU spikes upwards of 60% on a quad core box.

Get a video card with an on-board processor and lots of memory. That will cut down load on the primary a lot. Same issue with Revit/3D Max stations. Buy an awesome video card and display, then the main system resources aren't so strained.

Sorry The Mikester, but that's a virus going nuts using flash player to wreak havok on your system.

Just joking hehe.

Didn't Steve Jobs comment on this a while back answering the question as to why Apple won't/doesn't support Flash for this reason??

Use a computer with NVIDIA graphics and download Flash version 11, I think it's still a beta. It will offload all the Flash work to the graphics card which can do that stuff in it's sleep.

Yeah, I'm not changing my computer just to do some stupid flash crap (thought my MBP does have an NVidia graphics card). My point was that I now agree that flash is crap and I understand why my iPhone and iPad don't support it.

Flash 10.1 and newer support graphics card acceleration on those cards new enough to support it. It doesn't have to be an expensive card, just something current or a generation old. Sixty bucks will get what you need if you want to go that way. It helps with lots of things besides Flash player as well.

Flash is just software, and like any complex software it occasionally has bugs. There is a fixed version, it's free and all you have to do is install it.
Download Adobe Flash Player 11 Release Candidate for Desktops - Adobe Labs

My MBP has had it's share of bugs and updates too, and Flash works like a champ on my tablet and phone. It may be crap, but if so then so is Win7, MacOS, etc....

Yeah, doesn't appear that Flash 11 is fixed much...tried it - still hitting the CPU hard. I haven't tried it using other browsers besides Firefox - maybe I'll do that.
