Me too. I had a crewcab dually in '81. It was cool and did nothing. Chrome wheels and lots of running lights. Well, it did haul some karts and I am a contractor.

Hilarious.

Count me in...
1-ton dually. 4 doors, and it's a diesel! All that, and it only seats 4 people.

I love diesel trucks. If I had need for it, I'd have one.

Rufblackbird 10-02-2011 03:02 PM

i'm a recovering buttholic, but soon to be another butthole again.

I'm not really a fan of pickups either (used to own one, glad to be rid of it to be honest) but if that's what someone likes and wants to drive? *shrug* whatever. Your money and your gas bill - whatever thrills ya.

I finally got rid of the silly SUV I'd inherited and think I might get a used Jeep Wrangler. All the fun and advantage of a 4x4 when I need it; none of the extra weight and lousy gas mileage of a big truck. I kinda like 'em. Can't haul as much as a pickup or SUV but I can always rent one if I'm in a spot (seldom) or just get delivery (building materials, landscaping stuff like gravel or sand or whatever).

Different strokes. Drive whatever the heck you like - life's too short.

Somewhere I have a photo of a guy with one of those supposed "butthole indicators" with vertical stacks and a big-azz back window sticker reading "prius repellant" with an arrow pointing to each stack. Hilarious!

I can't care about other's choices in transportation - i don't knw why anyone would. But i do wish they would quit lying bout the mpg.

Zeke 10-02-2011 05:21 PM

Hey, I won't lie about the MPG, 8.

That would be uphill, downhill, headwind, tailwind, loaded, empty, city, highway.

454 with a 4 bbl.

Yeah, its diet cost more than mine.

nynor 10-02-2011 05:30 PM

N! sticks his foot in it..... again. good times!

I had the same 454 but with TBI fuel injection, and I got a staggering 10 mpg. Although did not feel as powerful as the older 396 4bbl dually I had before it.
The fuel mileage is not why I sold it though. It did not have overdrive, and although it would go 80 mph, the motor was singing pretty good at that speed, and long distance road trips were a nuisance.

Jess 10-02-2011 07:10 PM

I'm sorry for my use of diesel fuel. I use this truck for work, racing, and usually as my daily driver. I'm amazed that a truck that can haul my forty foot, two car enclosed trailer across the county can also get me to the grocery store.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1317611395.jpg

What is it that make those older truck feel so damn strong with tons of tq and get up and go? I love the way it feel going onto the fwy or simple off the line from a red light. I had a 72 one ton GM. The modern trucks just don't have that feel any more.

I have a ugly big old full size extend cab Cummins diesel truck that I use only a couple times for work. I am a butthole contractor. I drive it to the market or a restaurant when I feel like.

There's a farmer I know well in central KS that has a F-350 4x4 crew cab 6-speed manual with the older 7.3l Powerstroke, he easily gets 20 MPG on the highway with his stock truck. Pretty good considering that most 1/2 ton trucks get about the same. But he's a farmer, so apparently not a butthole.

I've talked to a number of buttholes that claim 25 MPG is easy with a few mods on any modern turbo-diesel trucks.

Norm's okay, even if I disagree with him 99% of the time... Okay back to the topic at hand... Butthole, small penis, gold rope chains... seems like a pattern of car envy

WOW, I guess I'm a "butthole" too! Maybe the biggest. I drive my mog just about everyday, but I don't always have a load in the bed, or the trailer hooked up. I even take it to go to the grocery store, when the wife ask!

"butthole indicator"=someone that gets their panties in a bunch over what other people drive.

sc_rufctr 10-03-2011 05:22 AM

I don't understand this thread. What's the point?

sc_rufctr 10-03-2011 05:27 AM

Thanks Eric. That explains this thread.

Normy

Get out and get a life. You're young and you have a good job.
Why not go out and make the most of it? (note, not in green text)

I seem to remember that the drive gear was low, and yes, older 400 style tanny. Although it was fun, I was glad to trade down to my present 23 YO Chevy 1/2T 350.

Unless CA outlaws it too, it might be my last truck for this life. 15 MPG.

How about people who drive Dodges with "Hemi" stickers on them that actually believe/think there is a Hemi under the hood, but don't actually know what a Hemi is?

Real Dodge trucks have a Cummins diesel under the hood.
