what is the longest you have gone without a shower?

whooosh! a friend and i went camping (another pelican guy)..

6 days of strenuous hiking, sweating..campfire smoke, cigar smoke.. rock climbing (attempts). it was brutal. sweaty, nasty one minute..freezing cold the next. rain, wind..sunshine. we saw it all. 6 days of no running water. i think i could have gone a few more days. but believe me, when i got into that shower it was WONDERFUL! i wanted to simple green myself.

this morning i got in to move my truck. and i got a whiff of what we must have smelled like..i laughed. the poor granola, hippie girl serving us that first real meal must have just about died. (she was adorable).

i admit i cheated a bit. i did hit some strategic locations with a wetnap. and i did run my head under some FREEZING ICY water from a jug.

my record is 8 days. you?

I've gone about 2 weeks, also camping/canoeing, but we did go swimming. We did wash hands for dinner.

A little over 2 weeks (Army). Backpacking, I always try and absorb as much campfire and cigar smoke. Keeps the bugs away.

You have got me beat, I went 5 days camping at the beach, but I was in the ocean every day. Still, I was never happier to see a shower when I got home, and when I did my laundry a couple days later, I was appalled at the odor.
I have a deadhead friend who rarely showers. For a while, I thought that Patchouli was what your body would naturally smell like if you gave up bathing .

I don't think I've ever gone more than 3 days without a shower or bath, but I've led a sheltered life.

5 days but that included a couple of washes in the streams in back of Mammoth. It was a 10 day backpacking trip. When we got to Mammoth, we road on a bus (we hitch hiked across the sierra) and people moved away from us slowly. I smell the laundry when I got out of the shower and it was like an animal died in the house.

Climbing, 21 days on Denali, 26 days on Aconcagua. Nothing but a few handi-wipes in between. Washed hands though at every opportunity.

Maybe ten days, certainly no more than two weeks. But it was winter, and I wasn't working. During a three month stay at the Toyota motel.

About 8 weeks... (Army exercise)

But that's with a daily "top and tail" wash. (1 litre of water only)

It's not such a big deal and when you return home you have a heightened sense of smell

17 days around Mt. Whitney and the upper Kern. After about a week you don't smell yourself anymore.

As a kid, I don't even want to know, I remember if I was bored I could lightly dig in with my nails and play tick tack toe on my arms, that how long it was between showers.

A week. When backpacking I do like to freshen up each day or at least every other day. In fact, I can just about do what a shower would do, with a washrag and a bowl of warm water. I am not hairy.

I take about 3 showers per day: Morning, after my run, and before bed. If I don't run, I still take two showers per day.

When I was 12, my Boy Scout troop went to a cabin near Hell, Michigan, and I went a day without a shower. I stunk! On two occasions, I have done "dual crew" flights on the 747, and I spent over 24 hours on that airplane [yes, according to the Federal Aviation rules, that is legal. And some people even think that sort of thing is safe~], where there is no shower. I stunk.

I wear a lot of deodorant, but no matter how tired I am when I get to the hotel room at 7 AM after flying all night for my airline, I ALWAYS take a quick spray off in the shower. I can't sleep otherwise!

I hardly ever get coughs, colds, and haven't had the flu since I was a kid. I'm convinced that my running and my careful hygiene are responsible for this.

N!
