I admit it, I have a Mustang--California Special

History:

It is a true 1 of 1.
Came out of California. Never licensed!!
Independent articulating suspension on all four corners.
Stamped on frame markings as a registered 1 of 1.
Registered by multiple entities.
Extremely low miles.
Horse Leather seat--yes there is only one.
Amazingly passes emissions.
Actual true barn find.

People have told me my Baby is priceless so I don't take her out anymore. I have access to a closed track so that works out well.

When she needs work on, I either trailer it or pay extra for them to come out and take care of things.

Here is a pic:

Trouble is, these require constant care. They eat all the time. They are uncomfortable in the middle and dangerous at both ends. And let us not forget about the solid pollution they emit.

Now that is "way cool"...love the original Bronco! Also admiring the winch mount...and..well, I just like it! What's under the hood? I'm thinking NOT an original 260.

Broncos didnt come with the 260. They had the 289 or the 302.

They also came with a straight 6.
They are pretty cool little wagons if they are in rust free condition.
Usually when you buy one, you get the rust free!

Correct. Mine is the stock 302 that has been mildly built, not to Bullitt levels but it does ok.

Nice...love the headers! Carter AFB? Too clean for an Oregon logging road cruiser...

[QUOTE=pwd72s;6315932]1. Trouble is, these require constant care. 2. They eat all the time. 3. They are uncomfortable in the middle and dangerous at both ends. 4. And let us not forget about the solid pollution they emit.[/Q

1. No they don't. They are better built and not an import.
2. I have large areas where it is free fuel.
3. At speed they are very smooth and properly broke in and maintained, very safe.
4. Incorrect. Dispersed as fertilizer or can be used as solid fuel.

Amazed that F snobs have turned a horse thread into well, you know.

It is actually a Quadrajet, they are supposed to deliver fuel reliably at odd angles. It is too clean for anything at this point, I should have just slapped it back together. What I have now is effectively useless.

Naw, just go get it muddy...but first submit it to a 4X4 magazine...it's Gorgeous!

my brother and i built a 71 bronco. it was more his, so i lost all my $$ when i moved to california. we mildy built up the 302. brother tried some dumb things..like put a 4 speed into it. it was geared really wrong. like taking off in second gear. his latest disaster is to try to fuel inject the thing. now it wont run.

he wont sell it to me. all it needs is a carb..and a paint job. we removed all the rust. the 3 speed is back.

Too often, when modding a 4X4, people think drag strip mods. Instead the formula should be for low gearing, cam the engine for a flat torque curve instead of top end power, dual plane manifold, go with a large enough carb, but not go for the largest CFM...in other words, modify for pulling stumps, not for drag racing.

From appearances, I'd say Will did a fine job. Made one hell of a good hunting rig!
