just ook a flying leap of faith and bought a holster.

i have handguns. plenty of them. not a single holster. a buddy noted that if the electricity shuts off for good, i cannot have a pistol in a pocket. i would NEED a holster.

i have not researched ANY holsters, but i just bought a blackhawk sherpa holster NIB..cheap. for a Sig226

any good? what else is good? i need a few glocks holstered. my wife is pretty deadly with the sig. glock, not so much.

why can't you have it in pocket? sure it's not good for the firearm to have pocket lint and whatnot all over. but i doubt that's a real concern if SHTF

Because it would really suck to reach into the pocket and accidentally pull the trigger. If you are carrying a loaded gun, it's smart to always have the trigger covered (ie holstered).

yea but if we're talking minimalist/survivalist/zombie attack, some wide industrial grade velcro straps do the job just fine

I have a Blackhawk Serpa for my P226, which also fits my P220's. They're excellent. They get a very bad rap with Glocks, though, because some folks have a tendency to grip too tight and hit the trigger after depressing the release button as soon as the trigger guard clears the holster. I don't get that, but I've read stories. The one I have for my Glock is fine too.

Carrying an unholstered gun in your pocket is insane. It's only done in the movies. I'd rather carry a bat. The only time my sidearm goes in my jacket pocket is when it's already in a holster and I can't risk anyone seeing in on my waist.

Not sure how anyone using a Glock with a SERPA could 'accidentally' pull the trigger. I use one with mine.

I can see it if you slam it in perhaps and the holster is compressed.....or it's not fully seated and you reach for the button.

I'm not claiming it's a problem for me. It's not. Though I do think the Safariland version with the thumb inside release is a better design. I rarely OC a Glock. I just wanted the holster in case I did.

For Vash it's moot because decocked SIG's have a much heavier trigger pull than Glocks, 11 lbs. vs. 5.5 lbs., IIRC. You simply can't fire a decocked SIG unintentionally. I think those retention holsters are super, regardless of brand. I have taken a spill on my bike with a Fobus non-retention holster and, while the gun didn't come out, I'd have felt a lot better with a Serpa or Safariland. Once I learned of them, I bought a few.

I have a Comp-tac similar to the one NotaBRG pictured above for my Glock that I use in IDPA competitions. They are a bit pricey for a plastic holster, but many of the top guys use them.

Get a serious belt if you're going to carry a holstered gun. The typical clothing store belt won't do the job.

For SHTF purposes, something like this will be fine.

No quick draw IPSC stuff, no concealment need, just need a way to tote the Glock, not lose it, maybe protect it. I have that holster in black.
