Marco Simoncelli killed in Moto GP

Not many details yet but watching the race live and it was a shocker

Very sad. Too young.

Wasn't live here in the States, and was just checking MotoGP.com. Awful. The race video up on MotoGP shows Marco low-siding, coming across the racing line and getting hit by what looks like Edwards and Rossi.

Very sad to watch. RIP Marco.
Lap 2 - Strong battle for 4th, Marco low-sided all by himself and came back across the track still hanging onto the right side of the bike right in front of Edwards and Rossi. Nothing they could do. When Edwards hit him, Marco's helmet came off. Rossi hit him also, and did an amazing save. Have it on my DVR. Live on Speed channel.

Not trying to be insensitive but his helmet coming off would be because of being to big to hold all of his hair. Same reason you will see helmets coming off in every football game. Helmets are only effective if they fit tight. There needs to be some safety rule about that. Not that it would have helped him, getting run over is what caused the injuries.

As long as we're taking minute to be honest, this kid was out of control too much of the time.
He caused more wrecks that anyone in recent memory.
It is sad and it is a tragedy, but this morning when I head that someone had died at the GP, my immediate thought was I bet simonchelli was involved.

Simoncelli had calmed down quite a bit from his form earlier in the year. Lately, he's been riding much smarter and with much more control. I woke up this morning to watch the race and saw the reports on the internet before I got a chance to watch it. I'm glad that I didn't have to see it happen. Marco was a great spirit and a future champion. He had the heart of a lion and will be missed greatly.

What Motion said. He had been riding better lately. As far as the helmet goes, if you watch in slow motion it looks like Edwards hit him squarely in the spine. It may have been an immediate spine trauma.

Heaven rest Marco and may Colin be able to find peace as well.

Horrible. Got up this morning and started watching it on the DVR with my girlfriend. Knew right away it was bad. Seeing that helmet go bouncing down the track gave me the chills.

Personally i really enjoyed watching Marco race. I loved his enthusiasm and fighting spirit. Just read a great article about him the other day. He would've been a future MotoGP champion. Marco wasnt unique in crashing. JORGE used to crash alot, Casey crashed alot on the Duc and Pedrosa took out his own teammate. RIP MARCO.

I was at Streets yesterday and had a fantastic day of flogging the bike. Really glad i didnt sign up for today. Just not feeling it.

Terrible loss. He was such a great character and would have been a great champion one day.

I prefer to call it "brutally honest".

I call it like I see it and work hard not to let emotions cloud judgement or influence opinion.
Not enough honesty in this world, someone has to point out the harsh reality. Otherwise we all turn into a bunch of damn drama queens.

Everyone dies. Each and every one of us. Without facing death we can't appreciate living. It's not something to fear, it's not something terrible. It's just part of life. That's how I see it.
When someone does it's just their time.

BTW using the Lord's name in vain is a sin and belongs in PARF.
