Pelican Pay It Forward Thread

Herr Oberst's thread on the free pile got me thinking that we should have a Pelican "Free" thread to offer items to fellow Pelicans before we either CL them or throw them out.

I will start off with the following items:

First off I have what I believe to be a 50's model GE fridge. I was planning on restoring it in metal flake candy apple red for the shop, but figure that I would probably rather have a Coke machine instead. I can't ship it but if you want it come and get it, maybe some Pelicans can pitch in and piggyback it across the country who knows? If you come to get it and bring a six pack of Tecate, I will throw in barbeque and a full day of fishing at no charge.

Second, I have some Jim Beam decanters that are frosted glass. I was planning on pulling the stickers off and clean them out real good and use them on my bar, but I already have a handful and really can't use these... pay for the shipping and they are yours!

And last but not least I have a sink that I just pulled out of the house. In descent shape for a workshop or the hunting lease. Not worth paying shipping on, but anyone close by is welcome to it!

I will leave everything out in the shop till next Monday, if there are no takers, I will go ahead and put them on CL

These look really nice when they are completed. I wanted to sorta do the "Hot Rod" thing to this one and update all of the internals/electronics but I know that it will sit around for years until I get a chance to work on it. I would rather let someone have it that can bring it back to life sooner than I...

Good job Bill! I had been thinking of starting a similar thread, more of a "pay it forward", I give you something free of charge as long as you offer something up to fellow Pelicans in return. Heck, I always have crap laying around and can't always wait for the Pelican Gift Exchange to unload it!

Anyway, first up I have a set of servos, receiver and battery pack that I pulled off a special effects rig, I don't have model planes or cars so any Pelican who wants it, PM me your address

Next up is a pair of surgical loupe/ magnifiers. Don't know the magnification but they work great when doing some gunsmithing (Dave, Mericet, etc) or for the hobbyist or if you just want to walk around looking at stuff. The left lens has a crack running through it but it doesn't affect the magnifiers. Again, PM me with an address and I'll ship it out.

Bill,

How far are you from me?

76226

A little modding and that might make a nice spoon safe or work as intended in my media room.

Hey Bud,

I am in Mathis Texas, right on Lake Corpus Christi. It would be a decent little drive for you but I do live right next to the state park if you would like to bring your family and make a weekend out of it...

Hey Sidney,

Appreciate the info, I will have to pass at this time due to having to put all of my income into the new house. Just finished new sink & cabinets in kitchen and I am already starting my next project.

Cool fridge! I could've gotten it, but we moved from SA to Charleston earlier this year...

edit: pending review... I might fix this one after all
I've got a tube amp to throw into the mix. It's a Pioneer SX-82, and probably has 24 or so vacuum tubes in it. Worked when parked in the late '90s, but the downside is the end of the channel selector knob is broken off, it's missing the tuning knob and needs a new on/off pushbutton (switch is fine). It weighs a good 40lbs or so - I was just going to ask for help with postage, or free to anyone who feels like coming to the Charleston area.

I'm flying out this Sunday and will return a week later.

No worries mate. We aren't actively trying to sell it. It's just sitting on the patio. When you get ready to buy give me a shout.

They had a fridge just like that in excellent condition a guy was trying to pawn.

They offered $200 max I think and the owner passed.

Umm... I'd love to play with that, but it could be worth a ton of money:

Yep, I thought about asking for that but asking for 2 free items inside of an hour didn't seem right. First of all, Pioneer is good stuff, and secondly, tube stuff is in demand.

In the spirit of "pay it forward" I'd like to offer a shirt that speeder gave to me. Unfortunately it does not fit me. It says "large" on the collar label, but it clearly is not. In most jackets I wear a L and not XL. Some shirts I buy XL and some L.

The person that would like this shirt should be at least an M and no more.

So, from Denis and myself, behold:

This thread is almost like the blind Christmas gift thread, but a little early. I hope to see some more cool stuff moved around.

I guess I should state first PM by time will receive the shirt.
