1968 1 owner Shelby GT500KR F/Sale

In the paper today, there's a auction coming up near Indy for a 1 owner '68 Shelby GT500KR. The son bought it new and drove it until he died in 1980. His mother then drove it around a few times until she died in 2010. It has less than 10,000 miles, unrestored original. What a find. A real KR too, 428 cubic inches. Wonder what it will go for? Nov. 5 from Earls Auction Co.

Nice. I certainly hope the buyer cleans it up but leaves it as is.

Thanks for the heads up...will alert the IMBOC guys. Nice find for somebody, but I'm done with old cars.

I'm struck by the cheap, tacky/bolt-on/glue-on nature of the Shelby modifications. It all seems like something done on the cheap in a barn somewhere. Really bad.

I agree...even today's Shelby cars leave me with the same feeling. But then, the Porsche GT3's graphics do the same to me. Some folks just don't see the value of "understated". If I couldn't have found a Bullitt model, I wouldn't have bought a Mustang..

The Onsite Estate Auction - Plainfield, Indiana - Plainfield, IN is a bit exagerated. There are other 'original' cars in far better condition. None the less, it will sell strong.

These Shelbys are not the same as true purpose built 1965-66 cars. I know of a 100% original 65 with good records that recently went for $180k. Complete with rot and needs a $40k resto. Do the math and thats probably the current market for a nice early one.

In September 1967, production was moved to the A.O. Smith Company of Ionia, Michigan, under Ford control.[12] Shelby American had substantially less involvement after this time.

That is an amazing piece of automotive history. I wonder what the underside looks like (rust issues?) Shocked that they didn't post any.

Very clean car that is in need of a good cleaning..Who ever buys it would be a fool to do anything other than preserve its original condition. It is a survivor.

It will go for a premium...

It is always cool to see these survivor cars pop up and hear their stories. This one should do very well being original and a desirable color.

Where are the ten-spoke wheels? My buddy and I restored a '68 GT500KR back in the early 80's and I remember the Shelby ten-spoke wheels that we searched for to put on the car. It was a rare convertible with A/C and an 8-track deck in the dash. We played "King of the Road" on the stereo tape deck at a car show and we took 1st place with the car.

If someone told me it had 109K well-cared-for miles, I'd easily believe it. I've seen too many 9K mile cars to believe that this is one. Look at the wear on the pedals, seats, seatbelts, shifter, etc. It has turned over once....

I often laughed at the adverts that said only 31,000 miles on it...is that 131 or 231..

I was at a local autoparts store a couple of years ago and there was a GT500. Completely original except for a bunch of ugly stickers and "customy" crap the owner put on. I believe it was a one owner or similar car. UGLY and just not sexy. It was like seeing the supermodel you have heard about for years and she is a troll in person. Kind of a let down.

Those are not hub caps, those are real Mag wheels.

This unrestored car shows up at a local show from time to time. I can't find the picture I took but it also has a factory Paxton supercharger.
