Moderate flak. Shows are part of the job description & they always include a weekend. It increases exponentially as the temperature spread widens between me & home.

Have only taken about 3-4 weekends off in the last 5-6 months or so. Worked 12 hours yesterday, and am at work right now ( drums , shoes , and cables on buddies dumptruck while he is pouring a sidewalk for me)
She complains a little, but I got the little one with me today, and she has the day to herself so she is happy. I always tell her, that my busting ass now, is setting us up nicely for the future. I plan on working full throttle until my early 50's, and then I plan on stepping back a little.

I work Saturdays. No static at all from my sweetie. We're both just really glad I'm working.

At various times during my career I've had to work weekends and we just got through it, no complaints or whining from anyone. It's just something you have to do sometimes... A steady schedule (over >2 yrs) of weekends and that would be tough!!

Lots of flak right now with a 3-month old.

What she doesn't realize is that my team has cut me tremendous slack and I have merely been placed "on call" instead of having to come in. Sure, I've had to log on from home a few weekends for an hour or two, but they haven't made me come at all, let alone be the lead for an implementation (which means I get to go to a meeting at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday).

Not much, usually when I have to travel internationally, or we're blowing up a car on a freeway, Sunday mornings are usually when the CHP lets us do that stuff.

my wife and i have been together since 16 yr old we are now 33....i work 2-3 sat a month but i play golf every sun no question asked

i am so lucky to have a great women who gives me lots of slack...by the way we have 4 yr old twins

she knows that golf is my passion and does not stand in my way...oh and she writes the check to the club so i have to play enough to make it worth the money(oh and i do play enough trust me)

she knows i bust me ass and i am a great dad to the kids and husband to her so she does not complain that much

when its hard on her is during the summer when all my friends want me to play almost every night of the week...i will play maybe 4 times a week in summer...but as long as i give her her time she is good

I used to work days, nights, weekends, holidays to get a house finished for a walk through with a homeowner. Seemed right at the time but I question it now.

I'm about to start a new job next week, where 10+ hour work days are normal and some weekends are mandatory until they get caught up. anot looking forward to that...

My weekend work is 5 or 10 minutes of answering questions for those who can't read the instructions. Start of a semester it extends up to 20 minutes doing the same thing.

major flak. I haven't taken a full day off in almost 3 months. It's good to be busy, and I don't dare complain... especially when other in my profession are struggling to stay afloat. Just the same, it's tough with a 2 year old and a 3mth old.

Right now the deal is I don't leave the house until 11am on Sat & Sun, and make it home by supper. My plan is to start taking Fridays off in 2012

I work every sunday...but from home. I hate it but I also take fridays off most of the time. I am never far from my phone an computer though so I am never really "off".
Food sales and consulting is a tough job and customers can be very demanding on you.

NONE. the only complaining is from me, when she whisks the OT check off somewhere mysterious.

i call it the "unicorn" account. i've heard about it, but have never seen it.

She does not gripe too much, I get up early and am generally back by noon. Taken the last few weekends off, involuntarily. I guess that will count toward a lost wages claim on the other guy's insurance.

She understands that I have a job and that job supports us.

I've had buddies who had wives that complained. I don't understand it myself.

I've had jobs where I was on call, and since July, I've been working mostly 6 days a week from 10am-9pm. It's rough, but the $$$ makes it bearable. I know it won't last forever and so does she.

I very rarely work on weekends anymore, but I used to all the time. My wife works Saturdays now. We both run small businesses and do what it takes - there's no place for complaining when it comes to providing for our family and accomplishing our goals.
