ebay/paypal shipping to person other than buyer?
has anyone ever gotten a request from a paypal verified buyer to ship to an paypal confirmed address that's not the buyer's? this is the first time i've been asked this.
apparently buyer is in one state and has maybe a family member or someone else in another state but has their address confirmed on the paypal account. sounds like third party fraud..... has anyone else encountered something like this? |

Sounds fishy but there are some very resourceful people out there.
One of my ecommerce clients would occasionally call about a customer that wanted to do a return. The merchant had a record of shipping to the person but the transaction was not in the merchant account DB to initiate a return. One day I needed to pull a couple of months worth of transaction logs. I sorted the spreadsheet to make it easier to find something and an entire block of the same email address came up, purchaser was all the same but ship to's were all different. I found the guys website based on his email address. He had hundreds of products listed. What he was doing is if he got an order he came to my clients site, purchased the product on his credit card but had it shipped to the original purchaser. He was running a mail order catalog but had no inventory in stock.

I've done it once and it made me nervous but worked out fine.
If the address you are shipping to is "confirmed" on the PayPal info, then you are covered by the seller's protection and are probably okay. Ship signature only.

I just "sold" my camera to a "winning bidder." He wanted to see more pics before he paid. Red flag #1. I sent them to his yahoo email account. I then got an email from "paypal" saying I was paid (and $100 more than the invoice). Uh, yeah, right. I checked my paypal account and of course no money. Then I get email saying he sent me an extra $100 shipping so his niece could get it quicker. His address was in KS (right), and he wanted the camera shipped to Nigeria.
Sure! I'll get that right out! Anyone want to buy my Canon 5DMk2 kit? Dead clean condition. |

On occasion as a seller was asked to do so and was no big deal - if the eBayer has good feedback especially and the way the communication goes.
I've also asked once in a while to send my purchase to another addy. No biggie. Feedback is a huge factor in credibility but also using common business sense. I have over 900 FB at 100% so have some experience.... ![]()

yes. 2 posibilities. 1) someone order a gift for someone else. I did and seen many people did. 2) fraud.
Some sellers won't do it, some would.
