Now that they have your IP address, you might want to listen for them knocking on your door.

Good , I was wondering if you would identify it, I was going to zoom in a little better but once I got backed into that place, I could not wait to get the hell out. Sure did get my attention when I first spotted it.
Once I saw it though, it was kind of like the dead body in Stand By Me, I HAD to go back and look at it one more time.

I highly doubt a local investor with nice cars will be very high on their bad-guy list. Can't see this really leading to trouble...

You know , there was no perfect decision for me to make in this scenario, I made the one I could live with. If I go down for walking 10 ft into an abandoned house, finding a gun and turning it in, then so be it.

Sounds like a normal day in parts of Rockford, IL. If you dare gamble and go in as an investor to rehab homes, you have to play by their rules. That means, no tools left behind, get out of the hood by dusk, lock the doors while inside working, especially when alone, etc.. The law always seem to travel in a posse whenever in the area so that gives a hint of the type of neighborhood. Utility poles actually have posters stating 'stop killing people'. My guess is a tiny fraction of the crime is reported. No longer my interest as the area would raise the hair up on my neck. Some of the abandoned places really should be immediately torched by the city and start clean. The city should give a 24 hour notice to the property holder and thats the end of it. Just a shame when you think of the pride people had in the old days and built some nice homes and now it's beyond hope with trash people. As for your find, make the blind call as urgent and stay clear. Good luck.

Fastfred- Just watched your vid. I know the feeling as thats just like some places in Rockford as I mentioned above. It really gets your nerves when these places have no electric, you only have a flashlight and you enter the door to a basement. Holy cr@ppola. Somtimes the odor of a dead rodent makes you think of something worse.

Also, have you ever had the delight of just finishing a rehab and come back the next day and everything is stripped out? Have fun!

Go back at night and stake it out - see if anyone comes to get the gun. Do it.

i think you don't get internet the first months after they lock you up..
need like 6 months of good behaviour before you get perks

No real updates, we are nearly done with this place, maybe have one day of work left, but have put it up on a shelf for the holidays. I have been back there twice since I found the gun, but did not go back into the place to look if it was still there. Temptation will probably get the best of me when we go back , and I will check to see if the Police did pick it up or not.
I think the one house a block over where most of the drug activity comes from is now empty. There was just a segment on the local news a few weeks ago, about a huge drug sweep in the city. Maybe we get lucky.

I once lived in a pretty rough area. My landlord owned many homes in a section that was about 5 blocks. He paid the local police to patrol in their off time. This was in the south and police was allowed to "moonlight" using their patrol cars. Needless to say, the neighborhood was much better with the patrols. I don't think this was very expensive for the landlord, neither did it seem like a lot of extra work for the cops. You'd see them cruise through a couple times a day. I am not sure if this is possible in your state, but I'd consider this once you have enough units in the area.
