Genetic/lack of Vitamin D factors in MS
Most here won't find this of interest. Only those who have MS or have family members with MS will. Still, a Brit study that tells me that science is getting ever closer to determining a cause of the disease.
BBC News - Rare gene links vitamin D and multiple sclerosis

Very interesting. One of our very good friends has MS and was diagnosed back in 1988. Thanks for posting this!

I theorized that it may have been a contributing factor years ago citing that the Pacific Northwest has an incidence rate about 2x as the rest of the nation.
Little sun = little vitamin D.

I take vitamin D and B complex every day - helps tremendously with SAD (which I get bigtime - for real too, clinical diagnosis and everything). I barely notice he short days and the depression is all but gone while I take them. If I don't, things get pretty bad pretty fast.

If I'm not mistaken there has been a breakthrough with MS by a Dr. Zamboni from Italy. The procedure is in the testing phase right now.
edit: http://www.gizmag.com/ccsvi-multiple-sclerosis-ms-cure-zamboni/13447/ Italian doctor may have found surprisingly simple cure for Multiple Sclerosis An Italian doctor has been getting dramatic results with a new type of treatment for Multiple Sclerosis, or MS, which affects up to 2.5 million people worldwide. In an initial study, Dr. Paolo Zamboni took 65 patients with relapsing-remitting MS, performed a simple operation to unblock restricted bloodflow out of the brain - and two years after the surgery, 73% of the patients had no symptoms. Dr. Zamboni's thinking could turn the current understanding of MS on its head, and offer many sufferers a complete cure. click the link for the rest
