Show me your bicycle storage!

I have like 5 bikes in my little family of 4 and they take up 25% of my garage space.

I have 2 mountain bikes (wife's and mine), 2 kids dirt bikes and one beach cruiser (mine).

I'm trying to cut their storage requirement in half and keep them out of the elements. Ideas with pictures?

I only have 2 bikes but I decided to hang them low and on the side of a storage area. They are out of the way and easy to get to, especially for my wife.

Sorry - no pictures. I use a couple of different methods:

Bikes that don't get ridden often get hoisted up to the ceiling on a rope & pulley system (separate for each bike).

Bikes that get ridden occasionally (light rode bikes) are suspended off the floor against the wall on some arms fastened to the wall that hold the top tube of the bikes.

Bikes that get ridden often remain on the floor.

I have all three storage styles arranged on one wall of the garage.

sigh...Everyone's garage ceiling is taller than mine...mine is only 7'.

I guess I could mount them to the wall though.

Mine is hanging from the ceiling by the front wheel, rear resting on the washing machine...

The best answer I've found for putting the most bike in the least amount of space is Harbor Freight's Bike tree.



Obviously this isn't the answer if you frequently need access to random bikes. But, for $45 I think it's a great way to put six bikes in about 4 sq feet and they can easily be rolled around.

I must admit - I was skeptical that the HF rack would be useful.

It doesn't really save me a lot of space but what it does do is make it easy for me to move my bikes out of the way in the garage. That is quite good.

See the pic - it's a nice rack. Probably best HF product out there...

Christ. I don't even have 4x4 to spare for the HF rolling rack. Friggin' low ceilings in an undersized 2-car garage. We've got way too many riding implements in our family. The two bikes mounted over/under each other on a pole/wall may have to suffice.
