Painting winter wheels?

I'm thinking of buying a set of winter wheels for our Honda Odyssey, but I hate the way they look like a donut on the car. Is it possible to hit them with some silver spray paint and have them look a bit more like normal wheels? I don't expect the outcome to look perfect.

Rattlecan Tremclad or if you have spray equipment DuPont Nason paint.
If they are new just go over them with a scotchbrite pad and shoot.
You need a warm place to do it, it will stink up a house.

You can buy wheel spray paint at most autoparts stores, that should be good enough for winter use.

I use rattle cans on the wheels for my race car. I'm suprised how well they hold up.

I thought I'd have to re-spray them on a semi-regular basis, but haven't had to so far.

Good news - thanks guys! $10 in spray paint is much cheaper than $150 in hub caps.

I believe that black rims mid-November make a statement. "I am ready. Bring it".

And hub caps are only about $40 on Craigslist. Probably cheaper in your neck of the woods....just sayin'.

I painted mine silver, clearcoated, and added a trim ring.

Cheap wheel covers flew off on the first freeway entrance ramp

You can buy alloys for your van from the TireRack for less the $100 each brand new. No worries about the rims bending and rusting and the hubcaps flying off when you hit a pothole. Worth it in the end.

These are sold out, but there are others similar:
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/WheelCloseUpServlet?target=runWheelSearch&winter=0&initialPartNumber=I0216752040S&wheelMake=Elbrus&wheelModel=I02&wheelFinish=Silver+Painted&autoMake=Honda&autoModel=Odyssey+LX&autoYear=2008&autoModClar=&tire=365TR6WS70

The steel wheels were $66/each. Personally, having my van look like a police cruiser looks kind of bad.

If you are going to paint them, you might as well color match them to your van.

Tire rack was $1200 after shipping and duty. 1010tires (Canadian) was $1100. Canadian tire is $800. Tire rack wanted $35 each for hubcaps. Eff that. It's an gold odyssey, so I really only care a little bit what the wheels look like.

Last I looked a set of 4 plastic hubcaps was about $50 at Can Tire. I had to buy a set for my wife's car (16") as she hated the black steely look. No problem with them flying off but she did crack one against a curb.
