Great news! Welcome home.
|
Catch up on the rest - hospitals excel at making sure you're awake as much as possible. Oh and welcome home Dave!

Wow, this whole thing has been nothing short of amazing. There is so much to say I hardly know where to start. It was so good to be home last night and to sleep in my own bed with my sweet wife and dog who weighs more than she does. Honestly Jack has not left my side since I arrived. This ordeal was truly the worst experience of my life and pushed my tolerance for things like pain and patience to it's absolute limits and beyond. something I do not plan on experiencing again if I can avoid it. However, as with everything in life it had it's trade off. For every bit of pain and frustration there was love and compassion which made it all more tolerable and gave me incentive to get through it all if not to be there to thank everyone for being there to support me. Never, and do mean never, in my life would I have though I was so loved and well respected on so many levels but especially from here. I promise of course that I will remain uneffected by it all and remain my crabby old tongue in cheek self. I have so many to thank for literally saving my life, but I really need to start at the beginning here with the "Pelican first responders" as they have been aptly monikered. Everybody one the first page, Cliff, Rick V,nostatic,Sidney,Spacebird the newbie, both Dans, OldE,and sammyG, Dondavis, zeke, look171, and all the rest. I literally owe you my life. As much as I did not want to go and miss the events of the weekend I had planned, it was your prodding and MJ's saying "look if you won't listen to me listen to them" that got got me where I needed to be just in time as it seems. I was told by everybody involved at the hospital that I was literally lucky to be alive and if I had waited until saturday to finish my plans, I would not be alive today to be typing to you all. or at the very least not be able to type at all ever again.
Next then would be the great communicators. Art at the lead there with Bill Ruff, Paul Morgan,Fast freddie, Shaun in close formation. All of you acted so kindly to my wife and family when they needed reassurance the most. All the rest of you the cheerleaders that followed this story, prayed, sent wishes, offered support. and even down to my bassist brothers who actually gave serious thought to covering my spot on stage with Rich Harper at the TC show, to all of you I say thank you and you have my never ending respect and love for as long as this body will sustain me. It is an honor to know you all. More on my actual experience later, but I had to thank you all first. |
Welcome back, my Friend...
I'll be up soon to pester your cranky self. |
Welcome back to the collective David. Stay on the mend.
|
couldnt they have "clipped" that cranky nerve "while they were in there"?
welcome home friend. |

Welcome home.

I think all the thanks we needed, was to see you well.
This is the weirdest place. One minute everyone's ready to go after each other, then when the chips fall, all is forgotten, and we all pull together. But, I hope it never changes! |
David,
Thank you! It was great to hear your voice today and I'm thankful that you're recovering quickly! This place simply would not be the same without you , here in our "virtual community" that we call PelicanParts. Somehow, Beth and I are going to get out to your neck of the woods when it warms up (May-June?) and take you and MJ out for a belated "recovery dinner". Welcome back, friend!! |
Art we would love that. Someplace nonsmoking, high fiber, low cholesterol, low sodium, and non fat. with an excercise room. LOL. Sad isn't it?
|
David,
I've been on that diet for over 5 years and I'm getting used to it! No red meat, alcohol, fatty or fried food, high fructose corn syrup, etc... and I never did smoke... My liver is healthier and I feel better! You'll find that food tastes better and you'll find new stuff to enjoy that isn't "bad" for you, too!! |
Welcome back!
I was checking this thread many times a day, hoping for and receiving good news. You probably knew you should get to a hospital when this happened and maybe that is why you started this thread in the first place. Good that the Pelican first responders weighed in on the side of reason to get you moving! Nice to have a happy ending! |
I love the name "Pelican First Responders" cracks me up.
|
Welcome back, David.
Great to see your in good shape. |
Good thing I'm not a first responder. I would have told you to suck it up and quit whining.
Great to have you back. That was quite a scare. Modern medicine is awesome. |
My man, David. No thanks needed. Your heeding the advice was plenty. I'm just glad you are doing well.
|
Glad to hear you are doing better David, stay on top of your diet and your meds, and for gods sake go to the ER if you get to feeling that way again.
|
Sweet! Glad things are on the right track with you. Take care buddy!
|
I only wanted you to get better so I could finally send the Marlin down. Again, so glad to see you home David.
