Any Malaysians in the house?
Some years ago I was enjoying a fine curry tiffin and a pitcher of pink gins at the Royal Selangor Cricket Club in KL.
At the next table sat none other than the great Lat. Artist, cartoonist, social critic and activist and perhaps Malaysia's best known and most loved celebrity. We hit it off like a house on fire and spent the afternoon talking and the rest of the evening trawling the bars in old colonial KL. Now Lat enjoys a huge status in Malaysia—similar to that Mick Jagger might enjoy in the UK—and the evening turned into one of those magic carpet rides through worlds I have never encountered before or since. The next morning a large box arrived at my hotel room, and in it were a large number of signed first editions of his lovely "30th Anniversay" cartoon book—by way of thanks. I must have given two dozen of these away to Malaysians over the years, but still have 5 or 6 left. They are brilliant and collectible—but meaningful only to someone from Malaysia—or possibly also Singapore. I would be happy to send one out to the first 5 or 6 Pelicans who can demonstrate their Malaysian bona fides by sending me a short note in Bahasa Malaysia.

I'm not from Malaysia, but I have a couple of buddies from Singapore, from my Field Engineering days.

I confess, I am a fraud. However, I did graduate from the British Jungle Warfare School in Malaysia, way back in 1973.

Interesting. Was that in Borneo or peninsular Malaysia? I imagine it must have been hellish.

Seria, Borneo. And yes, it left some lasting memories.

The book sounds great; but I'll stick to my Malasian chicken curries. My favorite food and eaten twice a week

I'm an American and can only say niceties in Malay, but I am living in KL if there's any chance you are willing to ship that far...
