I caught a glimpse of that on CNN tonight. Wow. I bet that was a pucker moment.

This is pretty impressive too. I've had landings that weren't this smooth with wheels.

Who had the bright idea to use a helicopter in the midst of steel cables and scaffolding?

The guy in black under the helo (with no hearing protection, etc.) is so incredibly lucky he wasn't Cuisinart-ed.

When helos go south, it's a yard sale.

There's pretty clear footage of the guy in black putting the cable into the blades from another video angle here:

New Zealand, world, sport, business & entertainment news on Stuff.co.nz

Had the chopper tipped and fallen the opposite way he would have been toast.

Yep... pretty clear from those angles. The guy just gave the cable a good yank and pulled it right into the blades. Just amazing nobody was seriouisly hurt.

That'll buff right out... (somebody had to say it...)

Looks like the cable also cut the tailpiece clean off.... Steel cable will do that for you, if you put it in reach of the rotorblades...
