Shooting Advice Email I Got

If you own a gun, you will appreciate this. If not, you should get one and learn how to use it.

Shooting Advice:

Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not to protect you.

'The average response time of a 911 call is over 23 minutes, the response time of a 9 mm/.357 or .44 magnum is 1400 feet per second.'

Never let someone or something that threatens you get inside arm's length and never say "I've got a gun". If you feel you need to use deadly force for heaven's sake let the first sound they hear be the safety clicking off, and they shouldn't have time to hear anything after that if you are doing your job.

"Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets. You may get killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death with it, cause it's going to be empty."

"The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win - and cheat if necessary."

"In a life and death situation... Do something. It may be wrong, but do something."

"If you end up in a gun fight... If you're not shooting', you should be loading'. If you're not loading', you should be moving', if you're not moving', your dead."

"You can say 'stop' or 'halt' or use any other word you think will work, but I've found that a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much the universal language."

"If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That's ridiculous. If you have a gun, what in the hell do you have to be paranoid for?"

"You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family."

"You have the rest of your life to solve your problems. How long you live depends on how well you do it."

If you believe in the 2nd Amendment, please forward...

Good stuff. I believe if you want to carry a weapon for personal protection you should be able to...Oh, geez, the second amendment...Except in Illinois and a few other states. I get very tired of anti-gun people trying to take my 2nd amendment rights away. If you don't like hand guns, long guns, etc. don't own one, but leave me alone. Why outlaw guns, outlaw criminals, duh...I've carried a weapon since March of 1977. Some people who have found out I do, were surprised that I do. To me it's like a money clip or pocket watch, you don't whip it out and show it around. It's there if it's needed. My wife doesn't even know sometimes if I have it. If you carry one, know how it works, how to handle it safely and how to shoot it. I have taken NRA courses and qualified with several police departments. I've always said I'd rather be on trial for using it (some scum bag you shot while trying to rob you will find a scum bag attorney to sue you) than not have one and be dead. A weapon is a tool just like a hammer or a saw. No more, no less. It has a purpose and a time to be used. I think people driving automobiles (drunks, etc.)kill more people than CRIMINALS (not the guns) but CRIMINALS with guns do. I don't see any one wanting to shut down auto makers and take your car away from you...Take away guns, what's next, knives, then hammers, then sticks and stones?
