OK, I upped the allowable size x10

Thanks. I'm working on adding a pic and editing the ad, just to see how it works. It's not exactly as intuitive the first time around (editing the place whers it's listed vs. editing the content of the text/info vs. editing the picture/video).

I've edited the info and added a pic a few minutes ago, but it hasn't shown up yet?

Those parameters should be made clear on the upload page (max px and file size).

CL works because it is CL and goes to the utter extreme of minimalist. With the shading bars you cross the line into some aesthetic, so I agree that you should have a bit more visual grab going on. It doesn't have to be much, but something that differentiates it from other sites, especially ones that use a lot of preformed widgets/look/feel.

But, but.... craigslist has shaded bars too... perhaps I'll place a "trending" section on the bottom of the page, showing the 3 or 4 listings with the most views. Kind of like a Hottest Listings section. Or.... maybe some T&A is in order.

Could simply compress the size on upload so it could take 'any' size. I'd think about throwing a www.motolist.com watermark on the images too. Not sure if you are going to set the server to allow hotlinking, but that can be used to your advantage.

Note that most of Streit's comments could be addressed with a few tasteful bewbie pictures. Internet business is srs bsns.

Watermarking is a great idea, thanks. Everyone loves bewbies.

Good luck with it. I'm always bike shopping.

4. Agreed

5. We're on a temp, shared account server for now. Will launch on a dedicated server and the 404 pages will be modified appropriately. Thanks for thinking of that aspect.

Motion, you don't need a dedicated server to accomplish this. A website URL can route to an IP and seperate instantiation of Apache or the like. I lease 3 servers. One of my servers has 20 websites on one vps and you'd never know it because they have unique IP addresses ans SSL certs.

Dedicated servers are very expensive. I suggest looking into a virtual private server. We do hosting for our customers and offer with full control and access to the back end if you want (Linux). Before you sign with some stranger, drop me a line and I'll see what we can do for you.

Bernie dissappears for a year and then pops back on to off-topic just to bust my stones.

Thanks.... I'll check with the IT guy to find out more about the hosting situation. I think it was only $200 a month or so.

I bumped up the contrast on the main page. Please keep the comments coming :)

Did anyone mention the spacing issues with the agreement? I believe between 3 and 4 there needs to be a space between them.

Good catch, thanks. Fixed.

Now accept me and I will try to find more issues... :D

You should have received an email with a link... just click on the link and you're good to go!

Have not received one yet... Will wait to see if I receive one later. Thx

Contrast/color is much better now.

Did I miss it, or is there a way to do a search geographically?

combatic 12-01-2011 10:33 PM

I would request email notification for posts relevant to what I am searching for. I use scrapers for craigslist now and of course ebay offers this function. It might be too much to ask your website to do at this juncture BUT what it does is connect potential buyers and sellers efficiently. Most sites trying to sell 'everything' are very noisy in this way. ie- if I am only looking for Ducati parts then Harley ads/sales etc are pure noise and get in the way.

I don't know where you plan to get revenue from but it would have to play nice with ads or whatever your revenue model is.

Oh and 'pizzaz' was mentioned earlier...images! Feature a cool bike of the week or bike features. We are visual creatures and like eye candy....which could help drive traffic to you and generate more business.

...but what do I know ;) I am just another guy chomping peanuts in the gallery.

Best of luck!

Will you ever offer scooters or scooter accessaries? I'm a Aprilla scooter girl and need to replace my battery.
