I've recently been labeled "emotionally unavailable" by more thaan one woman. I hear that bandied about by women all the time so I asked one what does that term mean to her. Response: Well I know you like me and enjoy spending time together but you aren't acting like its going to develop into anything long term...like you would be fine if it didn't turn into a LTR.

WTF? We've gone out on 3 or 4 dates. I've only been divorced 6 months give or take...sperated a little over a year. What makes them think I should make a decison like that after encounters I can count on one hand.

You think the biological clock ticks loudly? The friggin' "I'm middle-aged aand don't want to grow old alone" time piece has a relly irritating alarm with no snooze bar.

What they are saying Jim, is they sense that you are still in Spin Cycle. In my experience (both observed & lived) it takes about 2 years for this to disappear after a LTR & for your world to normalize.

You are dating women that want an LTR & yet you want party girls. Adjust your radar & party on. Not judging, just saying.

Yeah...I know where my head's at. The big one that is...lord knows the places the lil 'un encounters. Not to worry...but what get's me is I'm totally honest with the women I date. No BS or manipulative behavior on my part. What gets me is they ain't listening. LOL

I know you're not in the dating loop, Lube. I ain't no prize, and when my marriage crumbled, my bruised ego made me feel like no woman would ever wanna touch my peepee again. But in 6 months of dating 12-13 women... a doctor, a few nurses, a paramedic, an engineer, 2 different attorneys, a teacher and various secretaries/admin assistants/saleswomen...I'm not talking green toother redneck bar whores here...I did/could have slept with all but ONE on the first date. And that one gave it up on the second date. Not bragging...its the friggin' norm out there apparently.

I know, I know...I can make the decison to not stick my dick in crazy and in fact have...but they come on as so stable initially. Until the third date. Then they somehow construe the exchange of body fluids as a commitment. And if you turn down the cat....they try even harder.

So keep your $25. :D

Still here . . . and there. Have one Room Monkey in residence. All of my efforts to suggest his expulsion are met with wild scenes. Long, long story of course. His latest - Harbin, China now living in Vancouver - is coming to stay with us for a few days over the New Year. Drinking helps. :D

I've known friends who have cycled through multiple relationships and lament the crazy/etc members of the opposite sex. Then I point out the one constant factor in all of the failed relationships.

Then I duck out of the room quickly...

No person or relationship is perfect, but I am a firm believer that we attract certain people for a reason - and usually not a healthy one.

With if you were to post an ad:

Wanted: very hot women to just have sex with. You can't be fat or have herpes. I do not want to have a relationship with you and don't think you will change me. I am stuck in my ways and don't care much about changing. I make good money and will buy you stuff but don't get greedy. I also don't want to be bugged so unless I call you don't feel you have to call me. i will be very honest with you so if a pair of pants makes your ass look too fat (if thats possible) I will tell you. Also, don't be one that wears a bunch of make-up and perfume. Don't talk to me about your sister, friends or co-workers if it has to do with anything other than sex they have had or what game they went to. I don't want to hear about your drama and I really don't want to ever hear or know about your ex-husband(s).

Just as a serious piece of advice: You actually don't. But you will in time. People either go intro or extro after an LTR. Either option - in excess - is a very evil time. Fun maybe, but evil. The key thing is to get through intact & avoid making silly life decisions that will haunt you. And the old saying: you have to know & love yourself before anyone else can - ain’t all wrong. End of lecture.

Took me a couple of years to sort things out, and I was the one that precipitated the split. I finally got my stuff slightly straight and decided to be very deliberate about how any of my new relationships progressed. Best decision I ever made. All those years with a shrink evidently weren't totally wasted money...
