Rogue Adobe Installer/Updater problem in Win 7
Adobe has put something on my Win 7 computer that continually keeps trying to update or install their CSS software on my computer with every re-boot.
I see a box that says \Windows\Installer\sf940b1.msi is running - this happens every time I reboot, and delays the boot sequence considerably. I want to kill it. BUT - there is no such file as sf940b1.msi in that subdir (folder). AND - a full search (which takes over an hour since it goes past the indexes for the HDD) cannot locate the file sf940b1.msi anywhere. Control Panel is not identifying any Adobe Installer. Adobe is worthless of course in trying to get help & Google knows nothing about that file name. Any thoughts? |

Not sure about Windows but on the Mac all Adobe product updates are handled by Adobe Updater app.
Do a search for Adobe Updater.

I would uninstall CSS completely, reboot and verify that all components have been removed, then reinstall from scratch and apply all updates...

C:\program files\common files\adobe\updater
Adobe updater app should be in there. |

C:\program files\common files\adobe
does not exist (i.e. no adobe subdir in C:\program files\common files\) but, there is an \Updater subdir under \Adobe in the Program Files (x86) area. It does not have that msi file listed tho. maybe it creates the msi file as a temporary thing, then deletes it when I try to regain control of my system (?) |

ok, renamed it
there must be a startup folder or other facility somewhere that was loading it on bootup tho... I had the myriad ways things were .. ah... started up on startup figured ou in XP, but could not find the Adobe Updater in Win 7... |
