Question for the cops on here. ( and I guess rest of the guys on here too)

For the LEOs .... What are your top driving related pet peves? What offenses do you show no leniency towards?

For the non LEOs... If you were a cop what would yours be?

Mine are :

1. children not belted in or car seats.

2. driving at night, low visibilty/inclement weather with no lights, or just parking lights on.

3.texting/phone.

12own911 12-05-2011 08:19 AM

I would reverse two and three...

stomachmonkey 12-05-2011 08:19 AM

Texting/phone

No lights in inclement weather

Fail to signal

Tailgating and driving the same speed as the car in the lane next to you so traffic piles up.

craigster59 12-05-2011 08:21 AM

Not a cop, but if I was...
1. Texting/ phone

2. Driving in the carpool lane solo

3. Hanging out in the passing lane

4. Driving with no license/ insurance

vash 12-05-2011 08:24 AM

my brother said the only tix he still issues is the "no child seat" one. 90% of the time, it is arguement time..the parent defending their child rearing skills. fantastic.

having said that..two weeks ago, he was driving in his Excursion (unmarked), when some young hottie cut him off, flipped him off when he tooted his horn. he got on the phone and called in the calvary. him and two cruisers pulled her over. he said he HAS to call in marked cars to prevent some woman from claiming any sexual BS to get revenge. almost made me wish i had a badge.

Laneco 12-05-2011 08:25 AM

1. - Cell phone/texting, reading a book. Yes, I've seen people set the cruise and read a book while driving on the freeway, specifically on I-84.

2. - Children unrestrained in the car

3. - Driving without a license or insurance. Especially when you blow a stop sign and drive into my car when I had only liability and comprehensive (no collision) on my $3,000 car so I got to buy a new car out of my own pocket, and then you tried to sue me to get your car repaired (which you had no license to drive because you had too many tickets and no insurance plus you were cited for blowing a stop sign) you worthless deadbeat piece of ****.

There are quite a few others that drive me nuts, but those three make me go all medieval.

Not a LEO
1. Hate people that don't use the turn signal.
2.I hate it when predestrians walk when the don't walk sign is on and your trying to make a right turn at a red light

livi 12-05-2011 10:24 AM

Tailgating at high speed on open roads.

porsche4life 12-05-2011 10:31 AM

Hanging out in the passing lane. I had one jackoff doing this holding up traffic and putting me in a not to great spot a few days ago when I was pulling a trailer. I finally flipped on the flashing lights on the pickup. Sure they are just orange(we do highway work) but they woke the moron up....

Passing on the shoulder. To get home I have to make a left on a two lane state highway, and more than half the time some dillhole will pass on the shoulder at a narrow margin. Not cool...

Expired dealer plates. Just pisses me off to see these people driving around for well over a month with no tags, which means they have no insurance either. 99% of the time the vehicle is from one of the pay by the week places...

My number one would have to be driving drunk or high.
Texting and cell phone use is number 2.
Blocking the passing lane is 3.
Failure to yield is 4. On a regular basis some moron will look right at me and pull out of a intersection or driveway right in front of me and I have to hit the brakes hard.
Tailgating in 5.

Racerbvd 12-05-2011 10:48 AM

Flicking cigarette butts at the window and emptying ass trays at stop lights/signs, I take pictures when I see someone do it & post it:mad:

First, I'd develop carpal tunnel syndrome writing tickets to the "look at me" attention whores who have to have loud pipes on their motorcycles.

Second, I'd go after the spikey-haired honda-driving doofusses who have to weave in and out changing lanes every 20 seconds, as if donig that would actually end up getting them somewhere quicker.

On my daily afternoon commute I occasionally see these mental midgets make dozens of lane changes while I camp in my one lane, and 10 miles later they are several cars behind me.
All they do is piss people off, screw up traffic, and cause accidents when people have to avoid them.

Not a LEO but...
1. No restraints for kids.
2. Non handicap person parking in the handicap spot AND someone using someone else's handicap sign to park in that spot.
3. Tailgaters.
4. DUI'ers.

Especially nice when the LEO lets the person go because he knows the courts will not get any money out of the uninsured/unlicensed/unregistered driver who hit you because he can't afford a brake job.

Wait until you're wife does this and the guy passing you in the right lane is giving u the evil eye or worse(since your the passenger)..... "HON pull over up here so I can drive... Huh? why?" , doesn't have a clue... I do most of the driving 1) putting on makeup in the rearview mirror

I spent 12 years driving a patrol car, (motorcycle on nice days). Here are mine. I have since moved on to ther investigative pursuits.

#1, Impaired driving, can't get much more selfish than that.

Speeding in residential areas.

Not wearing seat belt, it's the law here. It's unbeleivable how many traffic accident deaths can be prevented by wearing a belt.

Not knowing how to merge. (personel pet peave)

i don't see many unrestrained kids, but i am sure it happens. i am just not looking for that.

my personal pet peeve is tailgaters. i love to do things like enter corners really hot while driving my porsche or hitting large dips/bumps really hot while in the rover. most of the time, they are so close that they don't even see it coming.

i also really like the lane changing mentality here, in salt lake city. in the last week, twice people have decided to change lanes and try to pass me while i have my turn signal on. in the rover, i just keep moving over. in my other cars, i make a quick dart to the edge of the lane and when they hit the brakes, continue moving over. that one really pisses me off.

oh, and speeding on my street (anywhere residential, actually). our street is two blocks long, and T's at both ends. people still drive on it at 50+ MPH. that pisses me off. especially since i have a two year old and so do many others living here.

Happens all the time here. Usually SEVERAL kids, sitting in laps, in a beat-up pickup truck.
