nervous. my neighbor's kid got thrown out of the house.

and he is living in his car. the kid isnt ready to cut the cord yet, so he parks his car in front of his mom's house.

he went around the culdesac begging for money. he flat out lied to my wife and said his wallet got stolen..and could he borrow some money. my wife emptied her wallet and gave him around $50. not to be seen again. he lives in the car with his girlfriend.

we just got a neighborhood email. the kid is hooked on drugs. not sure what drug. we were warned not to let him in to use shower/bathroom and to keep all of our windows and doors locked. and we are not to give him any money. i've seen this kid grow up. very polite, very bright. he dad cheated and got tossed out. it all derailed shortly afterwards.

sucks. i am kicking his butt, if he crawls through one of my windows. crazy.

He knows you have a Porsche so don't forget to turn the house alarm on and keep your guns loaded. I've lived with a druggie. That kid will steal if given the opportunity.

Call the cops. That kid will steal from anyone if he sees any opportunity at all. The best thing you can do for him is get him off the streets. He probably has already knocked up his girlfriend.

One of the women here has an 18 yr old who got hooked on Oxy and other fun stuff.

Got picked up for shoplifting at Target.

One of my staff could not find her iPhone. Convinced she lost it. Later that night she realized $100 was missing from her wallet.

Guess who was in the building that day?

Same day he got picked up shoplifting again.

His mom let his ass sit in jail for a week till the judge let him ROR.

Vash, set up some webcams, keep everything locked and alarmed.

Good luck.

Have you tried to talk with him? See if he is willing to try to get himself some help from some of the local free agencies? That polite and bright kid is still in there somewhere.

Kindness, is not a weakness.

A little surprised by the lack of compassion here.

I think you wife made the mistake of giving him money. Now he know who to go after because he's taste blood and it was free and easy. He knows who has money around the neighborhood. What the F are you doing Cliff? Call the cops or somebody. Protect yourself and your family. I hate to be such a hard nose about things like this, so what if you saw this kid grow up.

As someone who's done quite a bit of volunteer work over the years trying to help druggies get their stuff together, I gotta say your post wreaks of naivety and foolishness.

Evidently you've never been totally screwed over and ripped off by someone you've worked hard to help. I've been ripped off, lied to, and even threatened by a druffie (that was actually funny, I coulda squashed the litte sheet with one hand). I got one of em a job working for my best friend by personally vouching for him, and a week later lost that best friend when the druggie ripped him off to the point where he almost lost his business. In fact my ex-best friend was hand-cuffed in the back of a po-po car and almost got arrested thanks to little mr. druggie ripping off his customers.

The lack of compassion here is driven by experience and knowledge and common sense.
Assuming this kid is hooked on speed or coke, he will say and do ANYTHING to anyone to get money to get high.
If he could be reasoned with his parents would not have given up on him.
You try to talk to him, we'll keep our stuff.

If he is willing to he would have done so already.

He's aware of his options.

He got kicked out of his own house.

He is not there yet.

Unfortunately he has farther to fall before he can start to pick himself up.

You can smoke it, snort it, do the pills, whatever you prefer.

Oxy is some really bad chit.

Does not take much or long to develop an addiction.

Yes you can smoke Oxycontin, and yes drug/ alcohol dependency will make a person lie, cheat steal and use any deceptive technique possible to get their next high. No matter how nice, smart, enthusiastic, honorable they were in their previous life.

It's all about the drugs and they will only change when all hope has been lost and sometimes not even then. It's brutal and destroys more lives than just the addict's. Get the guy out of the neighborhood ASAP.

Sounds like a scared, desperate, depressed kid.
Real criminal types don't return home and sit in front of their house, they go out and furthur that lifestyle.

He needs to be physically weaned from the drugs first(under strict supervision), and then get re-programmed. The longer he stays that way, the more he will adapt and accept it. Mom sounds like she's not capable or willing.

If it's your neghbor's kid why wouldn't you go talk to your neighbor and see what the situation is? Then I'd call the cops.
