After...

Because of it's sentimental value to it's owner this was a labor of love for me and I really enjoyed sharing the progress with all of you. I hope you enjoyed the ride.

Nice work.

What would you hunt with this gun? (or is it a rifle?)

Ok lots of answers...
Paul..thank you for your inspiration. Could not have done it without you.
Neil: Thank you. Can't wait to see your Fox. I found a 16 Sterlingworth last week that I will send pics of to you.
Sc-ruf: Birds squirrels rabbits, you name it. .410 shotguns are for beginners and experts.
Vash: these Crescent Quail model .410 cal. are worth $800- $1200 depending on condition. IF you can find one. They are pretty rare. I have a nice Stevens .410 that needs wood. You are welcome to it, but I will not have it done until after Christmas . Look at CZ Bobwhite models if you want a nice .410 out of the box.
Scott: High compliment...thanks!

Excellent restoration. That's a lovely little double. Just a suggestion, you should consider having some pro photos taken. I believe it would be worth it!

A good friend of mine uses a .410 to nail the rabbits that keep invading her garden.

A healthy dose of irony: she's a vegetarian. Insert rabbit food/food chain/territorialism joke here.

To my eye, that thing is stunning. In a way that a new stock could never achieve.

I do the best I can, Dave

.410s are the deal. Unless I am hunting geese, that is all I shoot with. We Dove hunt every year and I prefer the challenge of the .410.

The CZ's are great guns (I bought a 16 sxs from Dave) but I have also had good luck with Stroeger in .410. They make a really nice over and under.

It will never be anything other than a pedestrian .410, but they look the business and shoot great.

And, have I have said before, I hate worrying about bumps and dings on my field rifles and shotguns.

Dave, well done as always. If you need any help with Neils Fox, my inestimable talents are a phone call away

It's "only" a Crescent..........

But, it is undoubtedly the prettyest one around from many, many miles! I especially like the flow of the stock and pistol grip! Dave, you pulled much beauty out of that wood! Funny, I have never paid much attention to these shotguns in the past, but suspect that I will be on the prowl for one in the future. Thanks for keeping us in the loop as you worked thru this labor of love!

Ok, so what's next?

I got this email las night from John. I hope he won't mind me sharing but it really says it all. I love my job.............

"Absolutely stunning, David!! I can't believe what you have done with this gun. And wow, didn't that stock turn out beautiful!

I can't wait to see it in person. I showed my son these pics tonight, and he was in awe. You have successfully brought a gun, and a childhood full of memories back to life, that now can be passed to my next generation with pride!

Thank you so much for everything!!".....

I mean ...wow.

That is the beauty of these threads: I had no idea that a Fox was a Fox, and the Cresent was so beautiful.
