I try not to go into my head alone....its a baadddddd neighborhood in there.
|
Drinking! I quit 30 years ago as of Jan 7, 2012. Other than that I'm a pretty mellow person but I was a mean drunk.
Top that !! |
Zero self -esteem.
Alcoholism. (Sober 3 yrs 7 mos.) Next. |
I take on way too much and finish too few projects. Not a problem with work, but in my personal life I need some focus.
|
I bought a bunch (for me at the time) of Ford shares when they were really really cheap. I was in at about 2 and it went up up to about 3.50 and I sold it. I then watched it pass what would have been new GT3 money. if a ~75% gain in a few months is my biggest failure I'm down with that.
Oh, and I'm really awkward around women. Epic fail. Jackson |
I have a million ideas but I'm lazy.
Drinking, I use it to fuel my procrastination. I have been off all other substances for +10 years, but when you can get booze at the supermarket the temptation is just too much (for me). Perhaps I have said too much... |

In all seriousness I get bored too easily. I don't want this to sound like bragging, but this is a characteristic of intelligent people (I work with many) - and I suspect a lot of the folks on this board might have similar problems (like me, it's one of the reasons we screw off so much on here).
I always had the problem of teacher reports in school saying "doesn't stay focused" (even though I got straight As for many years and was constantly on the Honor Roll). Turns out it was simple boredom - the curriculum was set up for "average" students and I wasn't. I should have been kicked up a grade or put into an accelerated/gifted program way before I was... Not bragging, but in seriousness it has been a problem. It's tough for motivated, bright people (and there are certainly some more motivated and brighter than I am!) to live in a society that is increasingly dumbed down to be "inclusive" to everyone - especially when what constitutes "average" constantly seems to be regressing. So long story short I'd say my problem is getting bored with a world/field that is really not very challenging. I'm working on that but find that challenges tend to be more about time management and PHYSICAL limitations (not enough sleep, etc.) than about MENTAL or INTELLECTUAL limitations... I suspect a lot of folks here have similar problems to varying degrees - this place has a lot of "right side of the bell curve" types. |
Trying to "help" and "fix" other people instead of paying more attention to myself.

Anyways, this is voluntary. If it makes you uncomfortable, look away. |
I took the love of a wonderful woman for granted and lost her. As the kid's would say, epic failure Bro'.
|
I lack empathy and I tend to expect too much from others...
|
I have a SEVERE lack of patience with incompetent, uncaring, irresponsible people. So much so that I'm getting to the point of not wanting to leave the house. That doesn't work for very long. I am trying to find a cure for this problem....no luck so far.
Other than that it's having regrets for things I didn't do. Not so much for what I did do, other than waste a lot of money on drugs. |
RKT, you in Peedro often? (and yes that is how us locals pronounce it)
|
I'm too sexy
Or not I hesitate; don't always seize the opportunity. I sometimes let others take the lead; am afraid to fail. Ironic since I'm in sales and have done incredibly well despite the shortcomings. I recognize there's room for improvement. |
