Rock Roll and Rap
I read the RnRHoF thread, and the article in the OP claimed rap is not a sub-genre of rock. Fine, but I listened to Back in Black on the radio the other day, and was struck by how close that song is to rap. I really enjoy AC/DC, and I think Back in Black is one of their better tracks, it delivers for me, but I do not have any affinity for rap, never have.
What is the difference between Back in Black and rap? That song could be rapped and not change its character. Now AC/DC is a pretty conventional band. To me they seem to have a very good idea of what cool sounds like and that's what they shoot for. Power chords and suggestive lyrics. But they certainly weren't trying to push boundries, and still managed to come awful close to a genre that hadn't really been established yet. So, is rap a sub-genre of rock, and what is the difference?

Rap,Hip-Hop,R+B, or whatever people my age call the vulgar noises blasted from overpowered Honda stereos is not Rock+Roll. Rock+Roll is not noise pollution. It is great music.
I do not know how to define the difference, but I know it when I see it (or hear it rather).
