What brand is it Scott?

scottmandue 12-14-2011 11:48 AM

Not sure, actually the bottom 20% is scrambled so I think it is a communication problem.

Have to pull the sign down to look at it, it is in the center of a public gallery. Huge PITA to take it down.

But it keeps me out of trouble.

futuresoptions 12-14-2011 11:58 AM

Congrats Sidney! Might get to meet you if I ever make it to Houston in the near future.

porsche4life 12-14-2011 11:59 AM

All the pixels still light though?

Check all your connectors, that seems like a comm problem.

porsche4life 12-14-2011 12:04 PM

Bill, what part of Tejas? I will be traveling the whole region, I may end up in your town at some point.

vas930 12-14-2011 12:11 PM

Great news.
Well done, Sid.

pavulon 12-14-2011 01:01 PM

Going to Brookings, SD?

porsche4life 12-14-2011 01:02 PM

Brookings it is....

pavulon 12-14-2011 01:04 PM

porsche4life 12-14-2011 01:06 PM

I have no idea.

well, at least you can bring your trusty collection of porn sites and a bottle of hand lotion then...

pavulon 12-14-2011 01:11 PM

It's my understanding that they started it...it's now publicly traded so who knows. Went to school with Steve K.. He was a nice guy who ended up in a long term relationship with a gal I knew for a short time.

Brookings was a pretty nice town...especially in the summer when all the college kids left. Go Jackrabbits!!

Hugo930 12-14-2011 02:34 PM

Congrats, Houston is a great city.

patssle 12-14-2011 03:03 PM

You're going to have to sell your classic Porsche's...people don't drive those in Houston!

I bet I know where you're working too, I drove past the place for 4 years going to high school every day!

peppy 12-14-2011 03:17 PM

Congratulations.

Oh Haha 12-14-2011 03:36 PM

Congratulations Sid!!

It sounds like your life will begin a new chapter. Good luck with everything.

porsche4life 12-14-2011 03:36 PM

Who am I going to do while I'm in brookings if all the college kids are gone?

No need to sell the 944. Not going to be gone that long. Oh and this company hasnt has a presence in Houston for very many years

Steve Viegas 12-14-2011 03:54 PM

Sid, great job. I figured that pharmacology was no longer in your future, but was not expecting this. Enjoy the internship. Digital signage has a bright future ahead of it, think Minority Report.

vash 12-14-2011 04:12 PM

well done sid!

best move for the future is an internship.. well done.

All the local professors' daughters well-off enough to go somewhere else for private college but now home for summer.

porsche4life 12-15-2011 08:53 PM

So, to top off this good news, I just got my grades for the semester....

Straight 4.0!

vas930 12-15-2011 09:20 PM

Well done, Sid.
Great work from the young man.

tevake 12-15-2011 10:03 PM

Way to go Sid good news breaking on all fronts. I think this internship will be very useful for you. Just like new info helped you realize the good in moving on from the pharmacy work. This experience will add to your insight and be a help in planning how to move forward career wise.

Great job with your school work also, you are making us all proud.

Cheers Richard

Jim Richards 12-16-2011 04:41 AM

You're on a roll, Sid. Way to go!

Joe Bob 12-16-2011 08:55 AM

Hide yer daughters....

porsche4life 01-03-2012 09:31 PM

Ok I got a packet with the formal offer letter today, they sweetened the pot a bit too...

Aside from the great pay, the apartment, car, phone, and laptop, they will reimburse moving expenses and I have 1k I can use to go home at some point during the internship, or to cover my parents expenses to come see me...

I'm so ready for may!

Gooch1971 01-03-2012 11:35 PM

The last time I heard about a job offer like yours Keanu Reeves and Al Pacino were negotiating on the ledge of a high rise in NY. Seriously, good luck. It can be the experience of a lifetime.

porsche4life 01-03-2012 11:39 PM

I know, when I got all the details I realized I couldn't turn it down.... Its a killer experience, and really good pay....

trekkor 01-03-2012 11:43 PM

That's awesome! May I offer a suggestion (for you to ignore :))...please do not get enticed by $ at the end of your internship and neglect to go back and get your degree. What seems like "really good pay" at 20 years old can be intoxicating, and since I'm sure you will do well, they may very well "dangle that big 'ole carrot" in front of you. I've seen it happen before...remember the "big picture". Not saying that everyone has to have a degree, but it sure makes a lucrative career easier imo.

porsche4life 01-04-2012 07:50 AM

The only way I would take an employment off right after would be if they were paying for me to finish my school...

Right now my school is paid for, and I'll be able to graduate debt free, I intend to finish fairly quickly when I get home...

red-beard 01-04-2012 08:06 AM

Sidney,

My first major employer started me as an intern in the summer between Junior and Senior year. They kept me on, part time, while I finished my degree. That is the only way you might consider it. I suggest you get college done as quickly as possible. If they want you, they will have a position waiting.

Welcome to Houston!

porsche4life 01-04-2012 08:11 AM

That is the only thing I would consider as well... I know they offer scholarships to interns, so its a possibility...

EarlyPorsche 01-04-2012 08:13 AM

Well done sir. Houston is a really nice, clean, and fun city. Enjoy the years ahead of you!

GH85Carrera 01-04-2012 08:15 AM

Sid, it sounds like the sign industry has done you good. I guess growing up in the business will help a lot.

porsche4life 01-04-2012 08:21 AM

Yes Glen the sign industry has done me well. Its funny that these guys are one of the more recent contacts we have made in the industry. I have been going to trade shows since I was very small though. My dad was president of the association here in OK back in '97, so anyone that has been around the association that long remembers me as being a small child. I have gotten a considerable amount of scholarship dollars from the association as well. Its funny that for years I've tried to stay as far away from it as possible, and now I've gone and dove in head first....

Awesome! I know the feeling.

red-beard 01-04-2012 08:27 AM

Sid, all I can say is.............Discount?

porsche4life 01-04-2012 08:32 AM

Haha, I don't think I can help you with that as an intern....

But if you have something you could use our product for be sure to give me a shout....

Groesbeck Hurricane 01-04-2012 08:51 AM

Sidney,

Congrats! Keep your eye on the prize and your path keyed towards a confortable retirement. Living well has it's own rewards! Enjoy Houston!
