I know that. Those were eradicated from the US back in the 30's. It was a huge USDA program. I was just posting that for the historical interest, if any
Actually the primary screw worm did not even need infected tissue to start on...it created it's own, now that I remember. The secondary is one that will start on infected tissue and progress from there. Those are not used either, of course, but are still around. Those flies can be distinguished from house flies by their blue/gold metallic look. I dunno what fly larvae are actually used medically. Again, just dusting off my brain out loud a bit..

Yeah, it's pretty gross stuff to the general public and to me sometimes too. Like I said, after 40 years in practice I still have trouble with it...

Well, the (time for desert?) wound looks clean and fresh and does not smell like rotting flesh anymore.....or....they hatch in to flies and buzz off...
