Since you asked, I know what I would do.....

If you are truly 'set' (your posts indicate you are) then its a no brainer, take 10k for yourself and give the rest to someone who 'really' needs it.

A student/s, a family, a family member (or not), doesn't matter. Be creative.

Pay it forward man, there are so many worthy people/families out there whose life you could change for ever with a gift of that magnitude. Life changing.

Now that would be something you could really feel good about, an investment in humanity. Few of us ever get the chance in life.

Just my .02.

I knew you had roots there. That's why I suggested it. I grew up in the Tri Cities and as the years pass, I feel the pull more and more. Last summer, I was fishing on Wilbur Lake ( near Elizabethton ) and it was amazing. The rainbow trout was like salmon, delicious.

If I understand the question as posed, what "I" would do with the money?
Pay bills, put a new roof on the house, finish the landscape, buy my wife a bauble, and bank the balance.

save half for taxes....

I would say take a great trip but I think you travel a lot for work

Turn the rest into cash, i mean green cash and bury it in the backyard for a rainy day

Nothing better than having an emergency stash

Hugh, maybe take your wife on that vacation she's always wanted to go on and with the rest of the money invest in your kid's future, whether that's education or help them buy their first home.

Targa seal? With $50K in your pocket, you could buy a 911 with a proper steel roof!
