love the Chinese grocery stores!! open on Christmas.

i was dropping "happy holidays" all morning. grateful for the non believers amongst us. hahhaha. stores were not only open, they were open early.

my Christmas dinner is gonna be TURKEY FROM THE SEA!! bought five huge lobsters and a billion oysters. supplementing all the ocean cholesterol with some Asian hotpot meal. now to go and research lobster killing methods. i'm grilling them.

MERRY CHRISTMAS PELICANS!

(pics later)

what a feed! i barely ate because i was doing the cooking and serving. i like it that way. i love my family, and insist on doing most of the work. gladly, i didnt hurt myself dispatching any lobsters, or opening any oysters.

here is the hot pot portion.

Did you put the lobster in the freezer to put them to sleep?

No, its for the lobster.
Maybe next time.
You look like you know what you are doing in the kitchen.
Nice and clean.
Well done.

What Vas said. It's the humane way to put an injured or sick fish down from a fish tank as well. I've done it a few times. As the temp nears freezing, their bodies "go to sleep".

i understand not everything on the internet is correct..but here is what i referenced.
says the blade is the best method. i ran with it.

How to Kill a Lobster for Cooking
quoted:
"There are several ways to accomplish this. Putting the lobster in the freezer an hour before cooking will do the trick. Quicker yet is to plunge the tip of a sharp knife straight down right behind the lobster's eyes."

I like Good Eats. Alton's the man. I would go with what he says. He seems to really know his stuff.

Would you rather die slowly as you freeze to death or go out quick?

They don't die slowly. And it's as it would be in the sea or lakes. How about if the knife misses?? In my eyes, freezer is better.

They really don't notice. They go to sleep and then that's it...
