Hand made Christmas gifts

Everyone in our family (except the children) have all the material things we want, so we make gifts for each other. This year I made 12 jars each of blueberry jam, strawberry jam, Carolina BBQ sauce, applebutter, ketchup, and corn relish. I couldn't get a picture before visitors began snatching up the loot, but here is some of the project.
Does anyone here "make" Christmas?

We make as many Christmas gifts aw we can. Beth and Becky made all kinds of cookies, bread, candy, fudge, etc... Dan made CD's of his band for everyone and I will make a mead this winter to give as gifts next Christmas. Homemade gifts are the best!!!

My sister-in-law mentioned yesterday that several neighbors and friends brought her home made candies and chocolate cover goodies. She accepts them with a nice warm thank you and then she throws them right in the trash. She does not want or need the calories of all that sugar.

Amen! We started about 5 years ago, and we call it "Make it, Bake it or I won't take it". It's completely changed how we experience Christmas. Instead of stressing at a packed mall about getting throwaway gifts for people who already have more than enough, we spend our time leading up to Christmas at home, cooking, baking and doing crafts.

We've loosened up the rules in the past couple years and now allow the purchase of books, and we can also give items we own but think someone else might enjoy.

Here's this year's loot: first time posting a pic from my blackberry

Salted nuts, a nice red wine, bits & bites, christmas tree decorations, and my mom's macaroni & cheese frozen and ready to go in the oven
