I owned one in 81 and yes they are fun but you feel completely exposed.
You get used to the feeling but this is motering at its most basic...
Forget driving in any kind of rain and the car was basically stored during Winter.

Just for info.... When they did The Love Boat episode in Australia these were featured.

That would be a fun ride for tooling around the beach towns there in central Fla.
That show is a hoot Mike is the classic used car salesman. He buys some clapped out car, has Ed fix a few things then has the best of whatever it is in the country for sale. Funny tho!

Cheers Richard

I like how Ed works his tail off doing labor that would normally cost thousands of dollars, so they can make a "profit" of a few hundred dollars.

Talk about working cheap.

I had a customer bring me one of those a few years ago that has been sitting for several years. After we got it running and all happy we wore it out before we gave it back to him. It was a blast in a we are all gonna die kind of way. Think supped up golf cart with a totally exposed side impact gas tank.

Been airing the show non-stop all day. Had the Delorean episode earlier - now doing a '69 Karmann Ghia....

I'll have to look at some of those Love Boats down under episodes....love to see that, Peter - thanks for the head's up!

Richard: YES exactly....perfect for Florida! Mike IS the ultimate sales-guy...ha ha. I've always wanted a VW "Thing" and this car would be like a miniature variety of it!

Sammy - I love watching Ed work - he's so at what he does he makes everything look so easy! I also love the US flag and FL license plate on the wall of his shop.

I really like the show. I have been watching it for years. Much more realistic than Overhaulin' etc.

For me, one of the big take-aways is how little they net on the car after out of pocket expenses.

In certain respects Mike's zeal reminds me (along with his British accent) a lot of Steve Irwin's zeal (along with his Aussie accent)....a factor which also makes the show so entertaining and endearing......

Have a look.....

Turns out "Ed" is actually "Edd"!

I rented a Moke in Barbados a few years ago. It was a great warm weather car. I was shopping for one when started to buy P cars.

If there's one show I look forward to its this one. The quality of the hd broadcasting is great. What I like most about this show is the car choices and how they are similar to my likes. The American cars as of late not so much, but overall much better then most.

Mokes have been cleaning up at Auto X's for years , great handling. Most around my parts rust badly .

Cool factor is high. Hard to drive without getting bugs in your teeth .
