Can Pyapal or Ebay.co.uk damage my credit?

I sold a very rare crack-free Saab 900 dashboard to a guy in Portugal who asked me very nicely to help him out.

I shipped the item with Canada post.

Seller claims to have never received the item. I can't find evidence of the item getting to the buyer either . I'm not blaming the buyer, but I am not happy about what happened and followed the buyers orders very carefully.

On top of that due to being so busy these last few months I forgot about the entire thing. SO now it is past the resolution time.

eBay.co.uk refunded the buyer and now has a collection on my paypal for 232 quid.

Can eBay UK affect my Canadian credit rating?

I don't care, I'm never selling on eBay again, not worth the hassle. My eBay score is in the toilet too.

I dont know about credit but it would be worth it to find a way to be in good standing with ebay just because it really can come in handy.

Good question, I was wondering this just the other day as well.
with people using their username across several sites its often quite easy to just google
'all posts by Dependencies' and run down their history.

Look forward to reading any thoughts

My .02...ebay rating's don't mean squat. I've never sold on ebay, but have purchased several vintage amps over the years...until my last fiasco quite a few years ago. $500 amp from a "power seller" with hundreds of sales, and an impecible rating...he was a scammer from the word go. I'm lucky I didn't have a house fire from the cobbled up POS that began smoldering a day later. I got my money back from paypal, but the seller kept insisting that his "rating" was his defense, and I was a noob...he had no chance with me. He did have my "blemish" on his record for a short while, but was soon back to a 100% positive feedback. As far a googling a logon ID, there are way too many folks using the same logon ID (or your exact name too) for it to be definitive imo unless it's REALLY unique (in my case, there are a bunch, but here and Rennlist are the only logon's that are mine). I don't have a common name at all, but there are a whole bunch of me(s)

It would I think be unfair to suppose someones behavior based on their E-bay behavior, and I've come unstuck I think Twice now

resisting temptation to go into details but I would say that (unfortunately) the most problematic purchases despite my buying/paying immediately have nearly all been from Porsche 'enthusiasts'

but I digress, out of interest how might paypal conduct get you in trouble
you buy/you pay/perhaps get refunded,
Be interested to hear how it goes wrong

No idea about your credit, but you are going to need a new eBay ID if you ever want to sell anything there again.

Can you prove you shipped it?

Did the sales contract specify insurance or a particular method of shipping?

BTW - eBay & paypal are not noted for being the most honest and consumer friendly of businesses.

You can dispute anything on your credit rating - in the US I would not worry much about a $200 charge.

The irony with eBay is that there are notorious scammers that have been working eBay for 5-6 years that have scores in the mid-90s to 100% because they 1.) delay until their buyers can't leave negative feedback or 2.) switch to a second account until the negatives "time out" at 12 months.

You did everything right as a seller except follow up on the sale. If you're going to be too busy to stay on top of a sale, don't put items on eBay until you don't have that problem. Or find someone else to handle it.

The problem is that once a item leaves Canada, Canada Post has no way to verify that it gets delivered. Your only "proof of delivery" is the reciept they give you at the postal outlet and that just proves you sent something by mail to somewhere.....

Check the buyers history. See if he has disputed purchases before. He could have received the item and then made the claim that he never got it.
