Oh! The Huge Manatee!

Your first win is gonna be great, because you'll have earned it!

wdfifteen 08-05-2014 09:39 AM

Sorry to see that damage. It's gotta be frustrating. Your car is one of the most nicely turned out cars there. It looks like some of those guys out there would just yank on the sheet metal a little and check the alignment.

porsche4life 08-05-2014 10:05 AM

Ouch! You don't need to be channeling Nostatic when you are racing!

Hey Tim thanks for sharing your racing season with us, what carnage. Man you got to be a fabricator just to keep going racing .
Really enjoying seeing the action.
Tim, have you had a chance to get to know your competitors? Just wondering if the earlier mentioned stereotypes fit, or what what have you found them to be like?

Looks like you are having a blast. Love watching.

Cheers Richard

Ps. Can't wait till you are up to power with the lead pack!

Richard,

I have gotten to know some of the top runners in my class. Most of the top guys are fairly normal folks, but there are indeed many odd characters at the dirt track races. ;)

Saturday I got my first feature win ever... It was however in B main as I only managed 5th in my heat race. The previous 4 weeks I had been making the A main starting mid pack which has been brutal in regard to weekly damage from being 3-4 wide in the middle of a bunch of crazy drivers. This week was great as I started up front and never got a scratch on my car and winning my first ever feature race was icing on the cake... My wife even seemed happy. :D

I am about 14th in points for the year which is pretty good for a rookie season and with missing two race nights to boot. Next weekend I have another wedding to go to, but after that I should make the remaining races through September.

Good job, Tim! You're a race winner!

kach22i 08-11-2014 06:34 AM

Congrats, and yes your wife seems to be on board in that photo - yet another win.;)

wdfifteen 08-11-2014 07:53 AM

FANTASTIC! Congratulations.

VINMAN 08-11-2014 07:55 AM

Congrats on the win, Tim!! Hope you have many, many more!

Well I ended up getting the rookie of the year award for 2014 and the car had been sitting since the end of the season. I pulled it in about 2 months ago to prep for the new season.

The 2015 season starts this Saturday... Although I started working on the car late, but it looks like I will finish up just in time for this Saturday.

Got headers installed replacing heavy cast iron manifolds, tubular upper control arms with weight jack bolts for the springs, slight rear suspension geometry change and a new plastic body style including the rear quarter panels. The new body required a custom radiator shroud and front frame and bumper mods. I scaled the car last night and ended up about 200 pounds lighter than last year. With me in the car, I am 52% left, 52% rear and 52% cross with total being 3083 lbs.

Good luck on the season Tim. Hope to get up there to see a race this summer.

motion 04-20-2015 10:14 AM

Nice work! And glad the wife is happy, too :)

ckelly78z 04-20-2015 10:49 AM

Congrats on the success of last year the car looks good. Do you have plans to do the Ohio sppedweeks in June this year. I'll probably be at Attica (about 20 miles from my house) on June 19th to see my daughter's BF run his late model, it would be good to see you there.

herr_oberst 04-20-2015 11:04 AM

ROTY in 2014, Class Champion in 2015!

The car looks just great.

Good luck Tim!

Tim Hancock 04-20-2015 11:30 AM

Attica does not have a class for my car. They have trucks instead of street stocks IIRC. I only race at Oakshade every Saturday night.

Tim Hancock 04-27-2015 04:28 AM

Well I had the car ready by Friday evening and drove it up/down the runway then loaded it up. Unfortunately they ended up canceling the first race on Saturday due to inclement weather (45 degrees and rain). Guess I will have to wait a week before I start smashing it up. :)
