wristwatch guys, need some suggestions:

Looking for a durable watch. Willing to spend $500-1000. Requirements are:
Self winding if possible, tired of dealing with batteries.
Metal bracelet
Bigger size for my eyes
water proof
Not too busy with a millions functions.

It's easy to go down the slippery slope and before you know it, you looking a $2-3 large! I haven't worn a watch for years, which was a Tag Professional. I'm not into them as art, or any kind of fashion statement. That said, something that looks nice wouldn't hurt. Looked at Tissot's and the pricing falls into what I'm shooting for. Thanks.

Tag Heuer should make something that fills that bill. Now is probably a good time to be looking for a watch as there should be some good after holiday sales.

I'd check out hamilton- Valijoux movements, and inexpensive.

I have one of their submariner clones that cost me <$400 Valijoux movement inside. All Stainless. If i destroy it I don't feel so bad but it's a good watch.

Something like this may fill the bill...

Hamilton H77445133 Watch | Ashford.com

Thanks so far. I feel more confident asking here. My brother is a watch "snob' and any mention of certain mundane brands and he thought I was crazy. I should ad he is a pharmaceutical rep if that helps. I actually looked at a Citizen and considering one of those.

ive worn my Tag Heuer 2000 Professional everyday for 13 years. i have changed the battery twice in that time. i prefer the lighter weight of the quartz watch, versus the internal movement of an automatic

We use Luminox on N.C.I.S. LA, and they're nice watches. This one might fill the bill...
Luminox Field Alarm Chronograph - Black Dial - Stainless Bracelet 1842

Just noticed it's battery..

What about a few dollars more and something nearly new. That is a great price for a fantastic watch.

https://www.chrono24.com/en/sinn/u1-bracelet--id1927099.htm?dosearch=true&query=sinn&sortorder=5&SETLANG=en_US&SETCURR=USD&manufacturerIds=227&urlSubpath=/sinn/index.htm

I am seriously tempted to Sinn again.

I have one of these. Great watch, no pics on their website (I think because it so closely resembles a Panerai) but you can call and see if he has any Marine Divers in stock. I think I paid just over $500 for mine...
International Watchman, Inc.
I'll see if I can find a pic

I can't say I have had the same luck with mine. It went from me taking it to an authorized dealer and spending a few hundred for the battery change, replacing seals, etc to me going to radio shack and then using a makeshift array of tools to twist the back off and replace. I'm not sure if its even waterproof anymore.

No longer being made and has a battery but the Seiko Sport 150 Chronograph has been my everyday for 20 years. On it's second battery.

They retailed back in the day for $800. You can get NOS on fleabay.

Tons of options. No need to spend a ton, but no reason not too if you find something you like.

I like Seiko, cheap, look good, keep time, last a long time.

Here's a titanium model for sub $200
